I stumbled on this article while researching reversing heart disease. My cardiologist has mentioned several times that it is possible, with medication, exercise, and the right diet, but it has only been recently that I have been making a real effort. So far, I have come on three authors (Fuhrman, Esselstyn, and Ornish) who say it is possible, and all three of them suggest a vegan diet if you already have heart disease.

Then, I ran across this Clinton article. Clinton was famous for his poor food choices during his presidency, and also for needing bypass surgery after it. He has fairly recently switched to a vegan diet. It sounds like it is working very well for him.

Caldwell Esseltsyn was featured in the film Forks Over Knives and Ornish is, well, just Ornish. I recently finished a book by Esselstyn and am slowly plowing through one by Ornish...

Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease: The Revolutionary, Scientifically Proven, Nutrition-Based Cure (http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/59090.Prevent_and_Reverse_Heart_Disease), by Caldwell Esselstyn

The Spectrum: A Scientifically Proven Program to Feel Better, Live Longer, Lose Weight, and Gain Health (http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2432355.The_Spectrum), by Dean Ornish

Hi Storyteller, just wanted to wish you the best as you embark on possibly living vegan. There are vegans on the board who would be happy to help you with any questions you may have! Chris

Thanks, Chris. That is good to know!

I'm practically eating vegan now, I consume so little meat. It will depend on what my cardiologist says... whether or not he thinks it will help beyond what I am doing already, and whether or not it will be safe. I promised my wife.

I doubt I will give up eggs, though. I like my chickens too much. Ironically, I just received a shipment of 50 meat bird chicks this morning. Not sure how that works into my new diet, but we'll see. :)

Hi again Storyteller,

I think you will find that you can live a vegan lifestyle quite healthfully. Eggs may be hard since In the past they were not considered good for the heart, although lately there has been conflicting news about that. Vegan is consuming no animal products at all. Maybe you can keep you chicks as pets....

The only thing I consume that is an animal product is non-fat yogurt, which I am planning on making my own soy yogurt soon. I am still easing into it. There probably are veterans on the board!

Who is in possession of that blue dress, now, anyway? Does Monica have it? She sold some items used in the Ken Starr investigation recently, but that blue dress was not part of that cache.
