How's that for a subject line? :~)

I'm looking for soft, comfy casual pants that can be worn around the house but also out somewhere to the grocery store, to a friend's house, etc. Not necessarily to work (though my workplace is pretty casual).

And, they must not be too expensive.

Around the house in the fall/winter/early spring, I tend to end up wearing sweatpants, which can sometimes be...well...demoralizing, for lack of a better word. I have nice pants to wear to work, but I don't know quite what to wear when just running out to grab some milk, or visiting friends/family, or just hangin' around watching a movie.

Please, does anyone have any suggestions? I have some awful White Stag pants from W**-Mart that I bought before I lost 30 lbs., but they are losing their (dubious) charm.

Thank you!

Land's End has some nice pants - I like the Starfish pants (http://www.landsend.com/products/womens-starfish-refined-stretch-pants/id_219545), and also the Sport Corduroy leggings (http://www.landsend.com/products/womens-fit-2-sport-corduroy-leggings/id_242223) (I buy the leggings one size larger and in Tall, so they fit like skinny jeans, sort of.)
I subscribe to the emails and wait till they're 1/2 price with free shipping.
You can return them to Sear's if they don't fit and get a full refund.

I have seen some nice pants in Macy's. don't know if you have one nearby though. I also second the Land's End. My Mom got a gift of pants from them at Christmas and they seem very nice looking, comfortable and good quality...

I just noticed I have an embarrassment of casual pants; I need to cull. Do you have good thrift stores in your area? If not, you could look at TJ Maxx or Ross stores.

I'm a fan of wearing Lee comfort fit straight leg khakis. Work, wherever. But weekends demand jeans!

I will check out the Lands' End stuff.
I haven't worn jeans in years. I used to when I was younger, but somewhere along the line I grew intolerant of anything w/o a generous elastic waist. I also find denim too stiff. I have a pair of jeans-looking pants, though!

You may laugh at this but I never, ever find anything at the Salvation Army, TJ Maxx or Ross. It may have s/thing to do with my being a very impatient person who doesn't enjoy shopping (unless it's for art supplies). That's why I prefer to do most clothing shopping online.

Thanks for your help, ladies!

LL Bean - sport knit corduroy pants. These have been my work winter pants the past 4 years or so. Very comfy.

I've been wearing drawstring crop pants from K-**rt, for several summers now. I find the khaki color hides soil (and white dog hair!) best. They are all cotton and dry quickly, and the price is right, 4.99-6.99. With a clean t-shirt, I have a whole variety of colors, and my Tevas, I feel comfortable and can go to the grocery store, and run other errands in comfort and feel appropriately, though casually, dressed.

I've even worn them in black with a nice blouse and nice sandals to work, and felt good about it!

We don't have K-marts around here, and I have found nifty crop pants at Value Village and Ross, but those sound perfect, mschrisgo2.

Woman Within (http://www.womanwithin.com/) has lots of inexpensive comfortable pants. They're focused on "plus-sized," but they start with 12, so it should work unless you're tiny. They also have a great selection of tall pants.

I also like them too. I bookmarked that page. We'll see when some extra money comes in, I will try out a pair. Are they fitting or relaxed.

They're more relaxed, at least on my plus sized body. :) They are very comfy and feel like I'm wearing my jammies to work. Hah! They are very presentable even in a business casual office with a twin set and nice shoes.

Land's End has something similar, but I didn't like them half as well as the LL Bean version. I gave the Land's End ones to a friend who was glad for warm winter pants.

Thanks Tradd, I need something comfortable at my size. These will fit the bill. Thanks!

Well, I haven't been having much luck with this one.
I ordered the Starfish pants, and while I love the fabric and the way they make me look slimmer, they are a tad too long and the waistband has about an inch of "sag" in front. I called the company and they said they would shrink in the wash. They didn't. That could be a good thing, depending on whether or not you want them to shrink. :~)

So then I ordered the Perfect Fit Pants from LL Bean. They fit alright--but I look tubby in them and I just feel unattractive. They are definitely going back.

I asked for advice on FB and got some responses that netted pants that are too much money and too "sporty" (quick-dry running-type pants--from a friend of mine who is kind of a 'lady jock'). I'm going to look at Woman Within now.

I absolutely hate shopping so I really hope I can find something online!

Edit: I don't like cords at all. I can't stand the way they rub together and make that sound! :laff:

Hi Tradd, not yet as I haven't been able to spend any money on myself for quite some time now. Hoping that DH will receive some cash in the next few weeks. First order -- hair cut!!! Those pants in black would be nice for Christmas or Thanksgiving with a pretty top! Thanks for checking in on me!

Have you bought anything else lately? Any other clothing tips?

Yep, although I pretty much only buy from Talbots now. Might be out of your price range.

Got a pair of jeans ($20 off, but they were still $90!) and three sweater sets, all from Talbots. Jeans for my trip to NOLA next month. They fit - wonderfully! Well worth the money. I needed the sweater sets badly as my most of winter tops were not work-worthy any longer. I can wear the jeans to work. A friend who lost weight gave me several pairs of pants last spring, so I'm set on the bottoms.

Where is your trip to? Don't recognize the acronym...sounds like you got some great deals and filled up your wardrobe a little bit. Talbots has such great quality. I only go there to look at the clearance rack, it is a little too much for me to buy their regular priced items. So you are set on the bottoms, what else will you get for your tops?

NOLA = New Orleans

Not sure on the tops. Will wait to see what comes out closer to.Christmas.

Visiting a friend who has just finished cancer treatment. I was last there in '97.

That is really nice of you to go visit. I am sure it means a lot to them.

These pants are quite inexpensive. No other brand of leggings (https://www.carbon38.com/shop-all-activewear/bottoms/legging) is as comfortable as mine. Their stretch and elastic bands on waist are great. My skin is really very sensitive and their smooth stuff is just perfect for me. Comfy looks tempted my friends also to buy the same. Printed and mesh cut are another patterns available.

I live by my yoga pants--I find the ones that aren't skin tight all the way to the ankles. Something like this:

If you wear yoga pants with a somewhat longer top/tunic, they go anywhere. I wear them almost every day.

Athleisure is still in fashion. I like track pants and designer sweatpants like Calvin Klein as a step above usual sweats.
