DH and I were walking our dogs in a kind of wild place we go a bit outside of Santa Fe. We found a house that had apparently been a cheap house you can put yourself together yourself. It had collapsed. Out of what had been a small kitchen window fluttered blue curtains with ducks printed on them. There were a few old items left--something like a composting toilet, a tiny fridge. It was heartbreaking to see how someone had wanted a house and gotten it and it had turned into a pile of lumber every-which-way and a few scattered items inside there the walls had once been but were now laid in and out on the ground. I took photos of it but don't know how to post photos here.

That is sad. Do you think it was a wind? Or just too cheaply made?

If maintenance is not done, any building will fail. We see barns that have collapsed all over Indiana. Does Santa Fe have any rain? Termites? Dry wood rot?

If it was built in the last 20 years, it was probably soft new growth pine and it just does not last when there is any stress or rot.

That sounds very sad, lark. Makes you wonder what the story behind it is, for sure. Hey, what ever happened with your no-lights week? I've been watching for that update, and may have missed it. (?)
