I have a huge red cabbage from a friend. She is the one who give me lots of vegetables, especially chilis, both fresh and pickled, some stuffed with sauerkraut.
I was planning to shred and sauté with butter, olive oil and pepper. Now, I can roast it for dinner tomorrow night. That is going to be so good.
I love cabbage. I saw a recipe the other day for it grilled. They said that if you salt it ahead of time, it gets rid of some of the water and roasts better.
I love to add wedges of cabbage in with the potatoes and onions when I roast a roast. Yum!

Sounds good Jilly and Cathy A. Jilly you will have to let me know how it turns out since I haven't tried it yet...Cathy A sounds like you have already tried a version of it...how does it taste? Did you put oil on it first?
I can't wait to try this, tis the season now for roasted vegetables!

Count me in as another cabbage lover. It's such a thrifty winter veggie.
I've pinned several of the roasted cabbage recipes on my Pinterest recipes page - but haven't tried it yet. Do let us know how it turned out. Have you tried "creamed cabbage"? I think it was called Cream Braised Cabbage (or Cream Braised Brussels Sprouts), that someone on here recommended? Oddly enough, we only liked it using Brussels sprouts, but LOVED it with cabbage.
Also recommended, as in "have you tried this?":
cabbage lasagna (use steamed cabbage in place of pasta)
oriental cabbage (stir-fried w/sesame oil, garlic, hot pepper flakes)
cabbage-n-smoked sausage soup(s)
Good stuff.
Well so be my dinner for tomorrow. Looks so good.

All of your cabbage ideas sound really good. We found out that a certain vegetarian brand is making mock smoked brats so that would be good to eat them together...maybe with some roasted potatoes too. I am getting so hungry right now...
