The South Carolina House passed a bill making the implementation of ObamaCare a crime.

I'll skip what I think of this - by now the regulars here can guess my reaction to this. I'd rather focus elsewhere - surely they must know in Columbia SC that the Federal Government is not going to take kindly to this and given that ObamaCare is the law of the land, there will be consequences for implementing this stance in SC.

Then it dawned on me - this bill is not about blocking ObamaCare, it's about the confrontation between the powers that be in SC and DC. And all the media attention that will transpire. It's almost like a mini-government shutdown.

I'm not much into prayer, but tonight I will pray for the working poor in South Carolina, who deserve so so so much better than to be pawns in this evil chess game in which their lives mean nothing. Rob

Here's the actual bill (http://www.scstatehouse.gov/sess120_2013-2014/bills/3101.htm). It was approved by the SC House of Representatives although it's been sitting in the Senate's hands for the past 6 months or so.

A quick reading shows that it's primary focus is to resist undue federal intrusion into the lives of South Carolinians, pointing out rightly that the federal government's rights are few and defined while individual states rights are numerous and indefinite.

I see it as less of a remedy against the ACA than a remedy against an over-reaching federal government, a point that I think can't be made often enough.

So the oppressed underclass of South Carolina won't be forced to fill in their swimming pools?

There are certain states in our union that make me long for the good old days of secession.

There are certain states in our union that make me long for the good old days of secession.I see that a little differently. It seems to me that many of our states should simply be absorbed into one giant entity, perhaps we could call it Utopia, where private property, free will and individualism could be forbidden, therefore ensuring that all it's citizens fairly share equal misery. Sort of like North Korea.

The remaining states could become the new United States and would be able to re-live that old concept of freedom and individualism the old union was founded upon.

Gosh, now that's got me thinkin.....

A country were the dollar is king and those without enough dollars are the slaves. I think we tried that.

Why lock yourself into "the dollar", an artificial currency controlled and manipulated by people far outside your sphere, who do not have your interests foremost in their minds?
