A friend sent me this story and it is quite exciting to consider. Think of the money that could be saved and the quality in healthcare improved as a result of using an iphone/smartphone as a diagnostic tool as Dr Topol explains.

I actually saw Eric Topol speak at a conference last year. He's a great speaker. He actually did a demo on himself: he attached his smartphone to his chest and got an instant EKG (as shown in the video link). Pretty amazing. Smartphone technology will go a long way to putting healthcare in the hands of the consumer.
