Simple food storage - zeer pots

I found this story really interesting about how to help store food safely and longer.
Sometimes the simplest ideas are amazing and doable. Anyone ever tried doing this?

I've heard of this before but have never tried it. Google search on "zeer pots" images shows lots of pics and how-to instructions.

So glad they can utilize this now in Africa. Not having these sounded like a horrible way to live...

No Impact Man (or one of those other guys who wrote a similar book) tried this and it didn't work very well for him. He gave up on having fresh milk and just started eating cheese for his dairy fix.
