I like this so much. Last holiday season I made ornaments from the pages of old books. Victorian fans, birds and medallions. I had a couple of ideas for using sheet music, but could not find any old, falling apart ones, so I found free images on-line and printed them on tinted paper. They were so cool, and I wish that I had known about this wreath project last year.

This has inspired me to make little wreaths for holiday gifts this year. I love the touch of tinting the page edges.

Hi Jilly, your ornaments from last year sound really nice done with pages from old books. Any pics?

I know I was wondering where to find an old book of sheet music wondering if in a music store maybe they have one that been around for years?

How do you tint your pages? What type of little wreaths will you make? Will you use them on the tree?

: ). Chris

You have to upload images here from a URL, and they are only on my computer. I think I might have a Photobucket account where I could put them.

I tint the paper by buying tinted paper at the office supply store if I cannot find old paper at one of the charity shops.

I am planning on making them for friends and the people at work. Today I am making ornaments that look like of victorian. I am using scrap book paper that I found at my favorite charity shop, a bunch of cheap (but, not cheap looking) plastic gold buttons, lots of ribbon scraps, random beads and sandwiching all of that around plastic snowflakes from the dollar store. They look awfully cute. Might want to keep them all, except I need them for gifts.

Love Victorian ornaments. They sound really pretty and it's so nice to give to people at work. You are one crafty lady!!!

One of the tiny sweaters I knit. They are a real pain, but I just love them, and they make impressive gifts.

The stockings I made for the boys last year. The giraffe one is for the little boy, who loves giraffes. I also made him a bowling set out of the same giraffe that is on his stocking.

Hi Jilly. You are so crafty! I love the items you made, especially the angels and the stockings -- so great. The boys must have loved them! I post a lot of items but don't make them yet due to money constraints. Have some funds now...

How do you knit those tiny sweaters? So adorable. Love it!

I used tapestry needles for knitting the sweaters until I found steel knitting needles of the same size at my favorite charity shop. Much easier and I can knit most of it in the round.

You do not need to have money to craft cool stuff, just the ability to be alert for free or low-cost materials. Let the people you know that you might be interested in their discarded stuff and if there are rummage sales in your area visit them, but remember to be very selective about the price point you might pay.

If wealth were measured by the percentages of what we own, I would be a craft crap billionaire. Oh, wait, I already am.

I sometimes wander around the craft stores, looking for inspiration to use what I already have and drooling. You know how they offer huge discounts on things they need to get out of the store? Well, I found the yarn for the little sweaters there, reduced to fifty cents per skein of that really thin and stretchy sock yarn, in colors that no one wanted to buy. It is just as easy to use as the doily yarn I usually use.

Good idea to scavenger the craft stores...problem is when I look around, I always wind up liking the most expensive things out there... I like getting the info from Facebook and emails, at least I am seeing things I can make that would not cost a fortune.

I have never knitted in the round, that is great that you know how to do it. You must have a lot of patience to knit those tiny sweaters with tiny needles! Do you give them as gifts for doll clothing? So cute!

They are too small for any kind of dolls. I make little hangers...sorry, Joan...so that they can be holiday ornaments. I did once make a doll's sweater, but by accident. Had to make the doll, too. A monkey.

I think that knitting in the round is easier, especially for hats. And, little sweaters.
