We had a little flood in our basement which resulted in damage to several pieces of wood furniture. They sat on a wet rug for weeks before we discovered the leak. Mold began to grow up the legs. Other than that, the stuff is in ok condition. We'd like to use some of it and perhaps sell some of it. Anybody know if it's possible to remove surface mold from wood? It doesn't have to be perfect, but I don't really want furniture that has furry legs. >8)

Any thoughts?

My fave housekeeping book, Better Basics for the Home, recommends any of the following for mold: tea tree spray (2 t tea tree oil, 2 cups water); citrus seed spray (25 drops citrus seed extract, 1 cup water); hydrogen peroxide spray (1/2 c. 3% hydrogen peroxide, 1 cup water); or a borax paste.

We have used a commercial product called Moldex and it seemed to work ok as well.

Good luck, hopefully the mold hasn't penetrated the wood and caused discolorations.

Thanks fidgiegirl. I'll give it a try.
