I have an abundance of pine needles, and I can't believe that only just discovered that they make a really good mulch for roses. And pine cones keep the dogs away from plants (perfect for around the herb garden.)
I've been doing landscaping this year and the layer of pine needles and pine cones is going to be a nice finishing touch, especially under the roses I'm putting in all along our fence.
I read that in some places people pay money for pine needles (or pine straw, as it is sometimes called.) I could make a mint!
Does anyone else use pine needles or cones in the garden?
