Crafty people, please help!
I volunteered to help kids make a craft at our school's holiday craft fair. So, I'll have a little station/table and I have to think up something that 50 kids can make fairly easily in a few minutes. So, it can't take a long time to make or dry or anything and has to be do-able for kids from K through 5th grade. Also, can't be crazy expensive because I have to buy the supplies myself. It is supposed to incorporate a wallet-size headshot photo--we have them for each student. One year at the same craft fair my daughter made this really cute angel ornament with her cut-out head on top. So, it could be something like that or use the whole photo without cutting it out.
The reindeer ornament is super-cute. Maybe I should ditch the photos and just do that . . .
I just saw the cutest ornament. Two candy canes glued together facing out. Wrap with brown twine for the body. Two little google eyes and a pompom nose. Don't discount how creative the kids can be. Their faces can be on top.
Also saw one candy cane with a pipecleaner twisted around the top for antlers with eyes and a nose. It could make them into reindeer.
How about gluing gumdrops around a picture? Or pompoms. Big bags of them at places like Hobby Lobby. Get a fast dry Tacky Glue. It is fast.
Kids like glitter. Paper, glue, glitter, paper plates to hold the mess. Use fancy scalloped scissors to cut the edges of paper into shapes and give the kids a hole punch to make decorations around the edges.
Get value packed tags or cards from the craft store and have them make a card for family. Stickers, crayons, glue, construction paper, fancy scissors, etc.
Thanks for those ideas, sweetana -- I think I am going to go to the craft store armed with a bunch of alternative ideas and see what I come up with at a reasonable price . . .
