These are interesting. Ever since I read Ken Jennings' book "Maphead" I've been focusing on all things map-related.
Just tonight I went to the local Barnes & Noble and picked up a world map for my office wall. It's about 32" x 50" and is modern but colored with an antique wash, for lack of a better term. It's beautiful and was a bargain at only $7.95.

I'm trying to be more map-literate for 2014.

And not only a useful gift, but a great souvenir for somebody you took a trip with, or the recipient's favorite city...very thoughtful, personal, inexpensive, and EASY gift.

Remember when everyone would wallpaper their bathrooms or laundry rooms with the maps out of national geographic? I still like that look.

As a map lover, I love this idea, too! Plus it looks easy!

My mom did that! Florida was behind the bathroom door, and Mars was next to the tub.

Remember when maps were given out freely at gas stations....just thinking where I would get maps now...

If you want super local - check with your city hall or tourism dept.
I always stop at visitor centers when I enter a new state and they still give out maps.
Sometimes you can write or check the website of a state tourism dept and they'll mail you a map.
