DS and I took a cart ride around the property when he was home for Thanksgiving. This young Cooper's Hawk (?) has been hanging around for awhile. DS got a fairly good pic of it.

The bird is great, but I love that green bug photo. I suppose that's a Praying Mantis? They are so freaky, I see one every few years and usual they are juvenile when I see them.

haha Jane.....yes, its eyes do look like gooseberries!
Iris Lily.......Yes, it is a praying mantis. We seem to get them pretty often around here. They're usually well camouflaged though. The pic of the one I posted was on the top of my car! So it was pretty easy to get eye-to-eye with it.
Thanks for your nice words everyone! Since you're encouraging me, I'm going to show you a couple more pics I took out the kitchen window yesterday. (You've created a monster! hahaha)
They aren't the greatest pictures, but it was sure neat seeing them.

Oh, praying mantis...so helpful but sooo creepy! Have you ever noticed, when you watch a praying mantis, it watches you! If you move it will turn it's head to follow you. A little TOO MUCH awareness in a bug IMO

LOL Peggy. Yes.........I've experienced that. This summer I found a mantis on a flower. I was taking alot of pics of it, and it was really apparent that it was following me with its eyes! Sorta spooky....and cool!

CathyA Nice photos thanks for sharing. I like them all the deer leaping the fence is great. You have a good eye for what makes a great picture.
