Found a easy budget over at johnnymoneyseed. The budget only has six catagories.
He offered 3 examples. All examples based on 80k after tax 2 kids.
First example being the typical 8ok+2kids (numbers rounded by me)
mortgage/rent 18% (me 10%) ideal 18%
consumer spending 32% (36%) 14%
retirement savings 7% (2%) 59%
Health/car insurance 10%(5%) 6%
Utilities 8% (9%) 3%
Debt payments 26% (38%) 0%
I liked having only 6 catagories.Wife and I were able to see where we are at in about 20 minutes. We only bring home 64k a yr plus 2 kids(one special needs).Really enjoyed the article.Check it out at
