Anyone here a Lynda.com user? I'm pretty sure someone recommended it to me in the Workplace forum a while back, but I can't recall who that person was.
If you're a user/member, do you like it? Anything you dislike? Membership worth the $ you have spent?
Frugalone, in my personal experience the quality of the Lynda.com offerings can vary, but I've learned a lot from the courses I have taken, even if they weren't perfect.
My tactic is always to line up what I want to learn, line up some extra time to do it, and then buy a month. I don't have an ongoing membership. I dislike it when I come across a class that isn't well-taught and I have to supplement with other resources/materials. But that has happened to me maybe 1 in 10 times, maybe less.
I'm currently exploring http://www.ed2go.com/ , picking the less expensive schools to "attend" online. There are a couple of programming languages I'm learning that way.

Before spending your hard earned money, see if your public library offers Lynda.com.
Mine does but I don't know what the limitations are, if any.
Wow! What an awesome thing for a library to offer!
Some of my neighbors would call that kind of thing socialism ;) But I'm still gonna check it out. (no pun intended)

The public library is a socialistic institution, I admit it. Now if you wish to debate what public libraries should offer, what they should look like, and how much that should all cost--well, that's a whole other discussion. Serious works for the edification of young men and women are worthy of my tax dollars and that includes Lynda.com. Expensive computer games--that's not as obviously for the good of society.

I wish our library had it. Alas, they do not.
I like the idea of perusing the site, deciding what courses to take, and then paying by the month.
