Oh, thank you! I will be making several of these...
Ok, finished my first one last night, a thick, snugly combo of aqua wool and pale aqua mohair. Very nice! Now making a lightweight one with three strands of lace weight yarn; two a pale pink alpaca, and one a multi hued merino in tones that morph from pink to magenta to lavender to purple. Holiday gifts!
This pattern is super fast & easy, and is small enough that I can knit it from leftover yarns that I have in my stash, all from GW! I love going shopping in my yarn store upstairs when a project like this pops up. Thanks, Tussimussies!
Next up: I think I'll try this entrelac scarf for the hipster stepson, in his fav tones of grey & black --

That is so great that you already made one!!! The colors all sound really nice, that entrelac scarf is amazing, just beautiful!
I'm on my third version of this cowl, though I think of it more as a gaiter. Here's my niece is hers:
I think I'm going to add this to my project list. I have plenty of yarn I'm trying to use up. Hmmm.... wonder if I can knook the pattern instead of actually knit?? This should be fun!
Can you do yarn-overs and knit two together reductions when knooking? This is fast & easy with needles.

Hi redfox and happy stuff you have to fill me in, what is knooking?
Knooking is a technique of knitting with a crochet hook. It is a specialized crochet hook with a hole opposite the hook end where a yarn/string is attached. Then you use the crochet hook to knit the stitches being held on the string. A google search will get you the info pretty quickly and probably better than I can explain it. LOL.
redfox - I'm just learning knooking, but I believe you can. Definitely know that you can knit two together for a decrease, but won't swear by the yarn-over. Don't see why not, though.
Not starting this project for a bit yet, but will try to remember to post when I finish and let you know.

So I started working on this pattern... with adjustments. It seems I may have freecycled my circular knitting needles... oh, well. lol. So, I'm doing straight knitting of this pattern and will simply have a seam on this first one. I like the pattern and am thinking of how I can re-write it as a crochet pattern - which I'll then be able to do in-the-round.
As for knooking this pattern, after figuring out the exact technique involved, I'm not sure if it can be knooked. But I'll add that I am VERY new to knooking and haven't learned all the techniques available with it. It may still be possible... I just don't know how at this point.
Thanks again for posting this pattern...I really like it and I'm having fun with it!
Finally got both a knit and a crocheted cowl finished. Like both, but personally prefer the knit one. At some point I may try a knook version, but I've already moved on to another project. Thanks again for posting this pattern. Definitely a keeper!
I just finished my third version! I really like it.
Does anyone here use hand spun yarn? I am a knitter and a spinner and Have all colors (hand dyed, non toxic) spun for sale very reasonably. My problem is that I LOVE to spin!! I have a lotd pics but cant figure oout how to post hem here.
I make a lot f tams and cowls, too and the cowls help keep me warm in the house.
Does anyone knit socks? love to knit socks!
