Are you triskaidekaphobic? It's the second Friday the 13th of 2013 :) I wasn't able to go to work on Sept 13 this year, and took the day off tomorrow for an early celebration of DH's birthday. If all goes well, we'll see the Hobbit (DH's favorite book made well into a set of movies!) and go out for dinner. Hope your Friday the 13th of 2013 is good!

We saw the new Hobbit movie last night. It's too long & too much like video games visually, but fun nonetheless.

My Dad was born on Friday, December 13th (1929) so we've always considered it lucky in my family.

I'm anti-superstitious and purposely go out of my way to do all those things that are suppose to bring us bad luck. So I have never considered the number 13 as an omen of evil and often use it just to tempt fate or the Powers That Be. So far I've never really had any bad luck. Yep, she's a rebel with a cause...a stupid, useless cause but at least it's fun :-)!

Fun to know the name of the phobia though. I love phobia names and especially love to hear about phobias in general (even started a thread here about that). So was happy to see that there is one for a fear of Friday the 13th.

I went ice skating wirh my grandson on friday the 13th. First time in at least 20 years. I was so bad at it, but no falls. I found it amusing that I took that chance on that day.

It really is a mindset, isn't it?
This small community celebrates every Friday the 13th. Look at some of the photos from September. The Dec 13 would be low-key due to the cold, I expect.

My cousin is officially in remission from lung cancer and yesterday they removed the chemo port! Great celebration all around for Friday the 13, 2013.

I saw it coming and hoped for the best. Before I knew it, it was over and I'd forgotten about it and nothing bad happened! (except my caramels turned out much too soft!) :~)

Not being a Knight Templar, nor subject to wealth confiscation from a jealous king (at least not yet), I see no reason for concern.

I'm not superstitious, so I pay Friday the 13th no mind. HOWEVER, I was flying yesterday, so didn't want to tempt fate and tell you guys that I'm NOT superstitious ;)

So now I can say, I don't believe in Friday 13th, I don't believe in Friday the 13th, I don't believe in Friday the 13th

Ugh! found out yesterday (friday 13th) that I need a root canal! Didn't know it was friday 13th until my daughter (helpfully) pointed it out.
Never had a root canal. Will somebody PLEASE tell me it won't be as awful as I've always heard they were!!

I am the BIGGEST baby when it comes to teeth. To put it in context, I do not have a low pain threshold, as evidence by having had four children with no pain management at all. But when it comes to dentists... that's a different story. I'll take birthing 12 kids to having one dentist visit.

I luckily have a very gentle, calming, awesome dentist. I have had one root canal in my life, and I survived it peacefully with the help of an understanding dentist and plenty of nitrous oxide (laughing gas).

You'll be fine.

Thank you Catherine. I am so dreading this, but if it keeps me from losing the tooth, I'm in.
Surprise to me, the guy I'm going to ONLY does root canals! That's all he does, day in and day out! who knew? I'm guessing/hoping that because of this, he is the best. I'm a wimp, too, when it comes to my teeth. I don't think I need gas, but I don't care if I drool for a month as long as I don't feel anything!:thankyou:

Peggy.........I've had a couple root canals. They're not what they used to be. The worst part of mine was just holding my mouth open so long, with my TMJ. No pain. (Of course the initial shot might pinch just a little).
Its great that the dentist you're going to is a specialist. Not to worry! You'll do fine. Its really no big deal anymore. :)

Hey Peggy: I had my first root canal about a month ago. No pain, and it was the first time I was ever offered music with headphones at a dental appointment. Rolling Stones and then Ozzie Osborne (my choices) really helped pass the time. My biggest complaint about lengthy dental stuff is that it is so boring. I think the next time I have a long appointment (my dentist expects a couple more crowns in my future), I will ask if it's OK to bring my iPOD.

Thank you so much guys! This really means a lot to me. I feel better about this already.
When this nerve started dying, i didn't know what was wrong as it was my jaw that felt like it was on fire. And of course my sister started freaking out thinking it was my heart! She insisted I go to the doctor to have an EKG, which of course showed nothing. Bugger!
You guys have helped tremendously. I can face this!:) I'll let y'all know how it went.
