Can anyone point me toward a reliable website for free printable Last Will & Testament forms? I have looked and have just been confused by what I have seen so far. Having worked for attorneys for 13 years in the past I know the importance of having a will, and DH and I need to redo ours. I don't want to go to the expense of an attorney for something I can do myself, but know that there is probably a simple form that I can use rather than doing them from scratch.

Have you looked at NOLO's site? I used a couple of their books, from the library, when I had all that mess last year. Here is their page of information regarding wills and other estate stuff: http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/wills-trusts-estates

Although I am fairly certain that they do not offer free forms, you might find the information helpful. I do, sort of, remember that there were reproducible sample wills in the book on wills and estate planning. Sort of. I could look when I am at work on Wednesday.

Not being a lawyer, or from your state, no. Their could be quirks I don't know about (usually there are). That said, I went about looking, maybe a different way. I was looking for a template to use in a word processor. There were several legal document sites that provided free wills (top of googles search, aka google ads) as well as a couple via google doc's. Do you know what your current states requirements are? (witness required or not, hand written valid or not, etc)

What we did was to just outline our wishes. We used a diagram/flowchart because that was the easiest way for us to think of the "if then, then that" logic. But then we took it to an appropriate lawyer, who spent a minimal amount of time ($) making sure it met the legalese requirements for our state. Done. And we did the heavy lifting.

I found the above site and it seems to have what I need tailored to my state's specifications. Thanks for your replies and I will check out the website Jilly referenced.

Thanks Jilly, I will check out the NOLO's website you sent. As I said in another post, I have found a place that looks promising so far. Thanks also for your offer of help looking up something for me at work. I appreciate your offer - but as of now I THINK I have found what I need.

SEL, I just noodled around at that site, filled in all of the will information and got to the end, where I was able to choose the free option. Upon choosing that, it required my e-mail address (no problem because I use a throw-away for this kind of stuff) and my credit card information because, as they explain, most people will eventually want to use more of their documents and/or services and they need to help you by getting that info from you right away.

I bailed.

I bailed. Ooops! Hadn't gotten that far yet. I am not comfortable putting credit card info in places that I am not certain about. Will look into other options now. Thanks for the heads up!

Less is always best...at least when it comes to coughing up information that someone else has absolutely no need to have.

I struggle with my clients about this all the time because most of them do not have much computer experience. There is not a week that goes by that I do not have to clear an e-mail account for one of them that is clogged with all kinds of spam, because they did not remember to avoid giving out all kinds of personal information.

The last day before the holiday breaks, one of them came by when I was between clients and asked me about the reply he received from a job listing on Craig's List. It was one of the classic scams, as well as one we had previously discussed as being one to avoid.
