View Full Version : Microfiber for skin?

I love those microfiber cloths for cleaning around the house (what did we do without them?)

I have been reading that a lot of people find the same cloths work great for cleaning and exfoliating skin, without having to use any cleansers or chemicals. I don't wear make-up, but they are supposed to be terrific at removing that too. They are also said to help with the little skin bumps on arms and legs (which I have.)

Has anyone tried this?

I have this weird idea that the little fibers could imbed themselves in your skin. And I don't generally wear polyester, so I'm wary of cleaning my skin with it. I do have excessively dry and flaky skin right now, and homemade salt/sugar scrubs don't seem to be helping, and oils and moisturizers seem to just sit on the surface.

I am going to try it out and will let you know how it works, but thought maybe some of you are already doing this?

I simply use baking soda as an exfoliant, no mixed scrubs or cloths necessary. But the microfiber cloths may be the answer you need, let us know :)

I just use a wet warm regular washcloth to exfoliate with. It does a good job.

I use baking soda on my face a couple times a week, and it works very well. It is hard to use in the shower though.
Wash cloths don't seem to be doing the for me right now; my skin is so dry it is almost like mica flaking off.
I tried the microfiber last night and it seemed to help - I'll give it a couple of weeks.

I made some felted soaps, and the felt covers work beautifully as a gentle exfoliating scrub. Here's the tutorial:

I am continuing to use the microfiber and am seeing real results. Practically no flakes at all on my legs, and lotion is absorbing much better. Definitely better than a washcloth, loofah, or hand-crocheted cotton scrubbies. I think it would be too harsh for my face, though.

It's easy to wash with microfiber without taking a shower, which is a blessing for me right now as I need to keep my foot dry (post surgery thing.)

Redfox - I am super-sensitive to wool, but it looks like a neat idea.
