Today when I came home from running errands and scanning thrift shops for items to resell, there it was.....my acceptance letter from the Department of Economic Security stating that I have been approved for Expanded Medicaid. Yowsa.....That is such a relief! If anyone out there has been without insurance for any extended period of time, they will know what I am talking about. And what is wonderful too is that three of my server friends that are barely scraping by received their approval for Medicaid letters today too. I'm all about everyone being covered so I'm also relieved for these other people now, too.
This is a good day! Rob
PS Having said all the above, I still "get it" - there are issues with ObamaCare that need to be addressed.
Great news, Rob! I hope this helps a lot; I know it's been a big ongoing issue for you. Yay!
Fantastic news, Rob. I'm glad you'll be able to get the health care you need.

Glad to hear the good news Rob.
Congratulations Rob. I know you must be very excited to finally have your state and country recognize your value as a citizen by providing you free healthcare.
I'm curious though, in another thread you mentioned being excited about a potential new job coming your way. If you take that job, will you still be eligible for your free healthcare or would that force you into a paid (although heavily subsidized) conventional plan?
The stress uninsured people live with should be calculated into their health risks. One less worry for you!

If I get this job, it will be ten dollars an hour and twenty to twenty five hours a week. The most I would likely make would be $12K a year. Whether or not I continue to qualify depends on how much money I pull in from ebay and gpt sites and picking up banquets. My guess is that I will be borderline, and if I do go over the amount allowed to stay on Medicaid, I will go to the exchanges and sign up there.
Something I should make clear is that I am in school full time right now and am actually very busy. If I find a full time summer seasonal job, though, I would be able to sign up for the exchanges and will be glad to. It just depends on what happens and how things work out. Rob
PS And I also want to squeeze in some volunteering somewhere to give something back as I have stated many times before.

Here's an update: Today in the mail I found out which plan the state of Arizona gave me for Medicaid. I did not get the plan I asked for through Health Net of Arizona BUT I ended out with what I consider a better plan - Health Choice of Arizona. Why this plan is better is I have the ability to see doctors affiliated with one of the best hospitals in the State and not only that, the doctors accepting new patients on Medicaid are one mile away from me on the bus. It just does not get any better that that!
I'm excited too as I am hoping when I can get in to see a doctor about my lower back pain I might get directed to physical therapy - that's a route I'd much rather go than continuing to take Tramadol. We'll see how soon I can get in to see a doctor and go from there I guess. Rob
PS Thanks for all the positive comments from everyone who posted - I really appreciate it!
