I'm on the Texas Gulf Coast. It is 31 F on my back porch with a high of 35 for today. Not currently raining but sleet and icy condition predicted. (Go ahead, laugh at me those of you in Chicago...)

Here in S/W Ohio, it's -15 this morning and we're looking forward to a high of about 6. There's no snow or ice in the immediate forecast although we still have about 5 or 6 inches of snow on the ground from last week.

It's 23 in Santa Fe right now. I think it's supposed to get up to 42. It will be rather unseasonably warm on Thursday with a high in the sixties. And it's dry, dry, dry. We haven't had any snow since around Christmas time. The rain California is not getting is the same snow that isn't falling in New Mexico.

A balmy 9 degrees F this morning in lovely western MA, with a windchill factor making it feel like -3 degrees. Looks like it will be sunny most of the day.

Well, you guys are living the good life in comparison to my area.
I blew the snow off the driveway and walkways on Saturday, I blew the snow on Sunday and yesterday, I waited until 11:45am for the roads to opened up due to the most heavy recent snowfall. I am waiting until Thursday to haul out my snowblower again but can get in and out with the car. Every time I open the garage to haul out the snowblower, which is a delight to operate BTW due to lots of experience LOL, the outside temps chill the garage temps too much and that is not fair to the dogs who live and sleep there.

The temps have been in the range of -24C or -11F at night and all the way up to -16C or 3F in the day. Don't forget to add the strong winds of 50-70kph or 30-45mph. That definitely chills one quickly. I wear my snowmobile suit/boots, fleece scarf, warm toque and Hot Paws mitts when I walk the dogs twice a day. I am dogsitting an extra dog for a while.

It is supposed to warm up to -4C or 25F as a high on Thursday with a low of -6C or 21F. Really looking forward to that!!

We had -10 F last night and now its up to -7. I'm trying to keep my chickens warm with 3 heat lamps, but that only keeps their coop at about 13 F. I fed them oatmeal last night, to help fuel their internal furnace. I'm also feeding the wild birds, which I only do when its really cold.
We still have several inches of snow on the ground too. Seems like whenever it does warm up a little, it snows. At least the snow is a bit of insulation for all the plants (perennials). I'm keeping a little hole open in my stocktank ponds with deicers.
Fortunately, we have a closed-loop geothermal system, so we don't have to worry about not being able to obtain fuel.

I'll take this any day, to an ice storm! I feel bad for the southeast part of the country, where they're supposed to get 1/4-1/2" ice. Even 1/4" ice can cause major destruction.

I find it totally amazing that wild birds and animals can live through this.

Makes me wonder what's ahead for us in the coming years............

Oh god, the cold is never ending here. Right now is -28C (-18) but -38C (-36) with the windchill. Might get up to -21C if we're lucky. I need to move.

It's 8 F. and the wild chill is below zero. Sunny with a few inches of fresh dry snow from last night. It's very pretty when viewed from the inside.

Well, I see that Winter Storm Leon is bringing some unusual weather to the South Central/Southeast. Up here in the Northeast, it's still very cold. We're thinking of traveling to Burlington VT this weekend--we'd go to Florida instead, but it will probably be colder there. :)

Second ice/stay home day in a week here in Austin. I was backing out the driveway this morning to go to work, listening to the radio and they announced the university changed their mind and would open at noon due to ice. So frustrating after taking a shower and getting dressed...Friday it will be over 70 again. Yoyo weather.

This morning it is 9 degrees F with a windchill of 6 degrees or so. We have had a pretty cold winter, not much in the way of snow or ice thankfully, just several small ones. Mostly we have had COLD temps, many nights of 0 or below with windchills of -10 to -15 degrees F. I am not a fan of cold weather at all, and since I basically retired in December I have not had to get out in the cold. For that I am thankful. Looking forward to Spring! Those of you in the deep South, be careful with the ice and snow coming your way. It can be so dangerous.

I'm quite sure we're all doomed. The beginning of the end, I know, everyone does I guess. I dream about rain, literally, I dream about it, when I see a few drops on my windshield and I'm like "I'm singing in the rain, just singing in the rain, what a glorious feeling, I'm happy again ..." but it's not to be. It's way to warm (warm spring days) day after day, another spring day in winter, the certainty of human extinction, the promised brutality of summer. I hate it.

I feel bad posting this - it's 76F and sunny here, with lows of 43 to come.... my second home has snow, current 26 with lows of 13. They have closed school once again... I swear those kids will need to stay in school until July to make up all the snow closures...This after a high of 63 yesterday!

Eso si. It's just starting to sprinkle here, but they're calling for 2-3 days of rain. We are way behind in rainfall...so we need it and can't complain, it's been so dry fall through now.

Oh my, those of you up north have my admiration!! This southerner would not make it with those temps. We have some icicles hanging from the eaves now and JMM says there are tiny ice crystals flying around outside. It is time for me to get back under the pile of quilts until spring.

When I got up today, NE IL, -11F, -27F wind chill.

Right now (noon, Tuesday): -5 F (-24 F wind chill) and a foot of snow on the ground already. None expected today; a nuisance snow tomorrow. Some spots in Minnesota recorded temps below -35 F. The big news is that tomorrow's high should be ... just average at 25 F.

Cabin fever has set in.

Only a foot, Steve? ;) Yeah, there's really not much of a difference between there and here.
It's supposed to be cold or snowy, not both. But this year is bad for everything.

This thread needs some pictures.

Right now in Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor, Mi it is 3 degrees and -15 with the wind chill. When I went to work this morning at 5:45am the wind chill was about -35 degrees. There is about 2 feet of snow on the ground in my yard with deeper drifts in places. I have to admit it is kind of pretty when you are on the inside looking out; not much fun having to shovel out my parking spot every few days. And the deep freeze is killing the grocery business. It has been quite slow at work in an already slow part of the year...They keep closing the local schools; today they closed the University of Michigan for the first time since 1978 (I remember THAT storm, as I was in high school at the time).

I really feel bad for the small business people. Several of our favorite spots have closed for days at a time since there are no customers or no heat, etc.

The NWS moved the projected frontal boundary on LEON. Now we are supposedly in the snow zone. We will see. All the projected big storm smacks this winter missed us, except for the cold.

Here in Surf City USA it's a bit stormy with big waves and we are even having a cold snap - it was only 70 degrees today! Even my dog "The Barkinator" refuses to go surfing. Only the mightiest and bravest surf dogs are out there today:

Of course the crazy bulldogs are out there no matter what:

Don't hate me anyone lol....checking in from Phoenix, Arizona, mid to upper 70's and pushing the 80's on Thursday but the long term forecast is calling for a cool down to the mid to upper 60's. Check with me in six months when it's atrocious here - our wonderful Winters and Springs and Falls are the payoff for dealing with Summer here. Rob

Moderated somewhat this week here in Nebraska. Still lots of wind, but not swinging from 55* to -15* in a single day. Thankfully. Supposed to snow tomorrow. Its been a dry winter so that will help and no one will complain, but I'm not sure its exactly welcomed. Spring, OTOH, will be welcomed!

It got up to 27 F today! The ice was melting on the driveway, at least where it got the direct sun! WooHoo!

It seems the single digit temps have left us, and we are back to a much more normal high 20s, low 30s for the day time for the next several days. The oil bill will be grateful.

I like winter, much more than summer. The cold seems to wake me up. But this winter has been so cold and so snowy and so overcast All The Time (and New Hampshire has not seen the worst weather in the US this winter) that I announced this week that I am so done with winter. And it isn't really half over yet. Oh, dear.

Was 6F at my house when I left yesterday, then in the 50s for a high, if you want yo yo weather. Today the NWS has their panties in a wad for tonight because they don't know if we'll get an inch or 12 of snow tonight. But, I'm still glad not to own a house in Phoenix any more. Bring it on, Old Man Winter!!!! :)

Took two h ours to blow the snow off the driveway and walkway as parts of it were drifts 2 feet deep. I made a trip to town and came home to find that one part had drifted back in. I love winter but this is getting too much. Another storm forecast for Saturday and then another for Tuesday. My muscles are not used to hauling around a snowblower for that long a period and so often. Next big drift, I am asking my neighbour for help with his big tractor snowblower set-up.

I have been wondering when I should give up my farm and move into a smaller place in town. This winter is making me think that the time is getting very close.

We're going to get a little snow tonight and tomorrow.........but, depending on the track of the storm that's due tuesday/wednesday, we could get a couple feet. :(

Rain today. Or I should say RAIN!!!!!!! The first we've had here in SoCal in a long long time. We are literally drying up and are in extreme drought conditions (worst ever apparently). But it was just a small amount and the sun (it burnssss ussss Precioussssss) is already out. Sigh..... Ready for a trip to Oregon and Washington to see some rain. I hear they sometimes get a little bit up there on occasion :devil:

Little wind and right around freezing for a change. Storm coming for Saturday - snow followed by rain then freezing rain and the more snow. Doesn't that sound just peachy?

You would think that, wouldn't you? However, it's untypically dry as a bone up here. They keep predicting rain, but all we get is a bit of drizzle, then just dry, chilly grayness. We're WAAAY behind in rainfall this year. Mt. Hood finally got some snow this week so the skiers are happy.

Rain today. Or I should say RAIN!!!!!!!

Yea finally got rain, rain like grace, unmerited divine assistance. Dryest conditons ever or in 100 years? Same difference. SOTU = fossil fuels forever and poison the water supply. STFU.

But yet unmerited pure grace falls from the sky, for now, but the grace is insufficient. Still it feels at last after a cry that would not come for too long. I had the umbrella in the car and thought of doing the full tribute, twirling around outside, do de do do, do de do de do do ... I'm singing and dancing ....
