In the evening, I could hear 2 Great Horned owls talking to each other. Then, during the night, I was awoken several times by a very talkative barred owl! Very cool!

This barred owl pic was taken last April. It isn't the greatest pic, but I was lucky to get the shot at all. I was in my bedroom and looked out, and there it was, in the spruce tree.
DS and I enjoyed an evening last summer of following 3 barred owls around our property. I love my golf cart. Its electric and we can move stealthily around the property.

So lucky. All the birds you have to observe. It is, however, a wonderful picture. I think it beautifully expresses the life of owls. Seriously. May I have your permission to use it on my desktop?

Nice catch! There is a barn owl in my pine trees and I hear it but have yet to see it.

I would love to see and hear a barn owl! Never have. I guess they are disappearing from this area, because of not having as many places to nest. :(
They're voices are so eerie!

I love to listen to them talk. When I lived in N.H. I would hear them but didn't see them very much.

I guess its called "Caterwauling", but sometimes several of the barred owls get to doing this, and it sounds like a bunch of monkeys in the jungle!

Last year, DH and I were on one of our evening cart rides through the woods and I heard something I hadn't heard before. There was a Great Horned owl call, but then sort of a screeching call from another location. I came home and looked it up online and discovered it was a parent and a little one! That was fun. I've heard that Great Horned Owls can kill other owls....especially barred owls. I hope the ones that visit here can live in peace together.......
It's so totally amazing how they can fly without a sound through the woods.
