Hello all, after having the house to myself for two weeks now I bit the bullet last week and posted an ad on CraigsList for a new room mate. I got quite a few responses (many of them scams), but showed my extra room to three very nice people who each in their own right would have probably made a good house mate. After a night of consideration I chose to offer the room to the first guy that came over; a 24 year old recent college graduate with a degree in natural resources. He has a stable job, and is not into partying and can be quiet when I need him to be. We seemed to hit it off right away as we have many common interests.

He is going to pay $335/month which includes electric and heat (I raised the rent $10 from my last room mate). This is awesome for me because it reduces my share of the rent to a ridiculous level and leaves me all sorts of extra cash to pay off my bills!

I think he will stay until next fall, and then we'll see what happens. By then I might need to have my place to myself for a little while. The other cool thing is that he loves cats (he is bringing one of his own) and is willing to cat-sit (for a little rent reduction) when I go on my epic out-west summer road trip again in June.

All in all, it seems like another win-win situation!

Sounds a good fit and very beneficial to the pocket book.

Good for you! A roommate of valor is worth his weight in...er...reduced living expenses! :)
