I apologize for not knowing how to interpret this. I am hoping some of you that understand these things can advise me.

My virus protection is telling me that the simplelivingforum is unsafe. I have copied part of the report below.

I think this site is kind of weird.

When I first signed up I couldn't have additional paragraphs. Then I downloaded 8.1 and now I can have paragraphs but if I start a new one, I have to bang on the keyboard with every keystroke just to get the letters to come up. Sometimes. Other times it works fine. This doesn't happen on any other website I go to. I can't explain it.

I have problems here too. And only here. I get a virus warning often when I come here. It is also often very hard to even post because I have to bang on the keyboard too with every stroke, which is hard to do since I have MS. It is really weird. I mostly just read here only because of that.... And only recently have I been able to make paragraphs. Strange. It only happens here....

I don't know much about these things, but I know in the past this site has had problems, but I think it has to do with if they've registered some certificate or not.....which I don't think is dangerous to your computer, but a hassle to see it all the time.
Hopefully Alan will show up shortly and explain things.

I actually do better on this site since changing my browser from IE to Foxfire. IE used to give me warnings, etc. and sometimes just prevented me from signing in. With Foxfire, I sometimes still need to log in twice, but I usually do fine once in.

I get the virus warning a couple times a month. I just exit and change from IE to Foxfire and it doesn't give me those warnings. I think Alan has said before that it is something to do with IE.

I can't acces the Consumerism forum without my Avast antivirus alerting me. So far I've been able to bypass that by using the Quick Navigation menu at the bottom of the pages.

Yeah, but it is strange that I would need to do this for only one website on the entire internet - never in all of my years on the internet have I experienced this anywhere else.... Seems like there is more to it???? And the keyboarding difficulty - now that is just really strange. It's taken me several minutes to just be able to key this post....

Whatever version of IE at work acts exactly as you describe--can't make paragraphs and sometime beginning last week it wouldn't let me on the site at all, probably due to virus warnings.
But Firefox is fine.

Well, it seems to me that if there is a virus ... I would want to be warned. Switching browsers eliminates the warning but does it eliminate the virus??? Not knowing may not be good ....

I've never had a problem with this site. I did recently switch from IE to Google, and I find things run more smoothly for me in general, although every once in awhile I run into a site that runs better with IE.

Sorry, I didn't make it clear. The warning is faux.

Have never had a problem or warning of any kind here, ever (and I've been here a very long time) ... and I use IE. ???
Used to post a lot in the "olden days", but not so much anymore ... tho I still read ...

Firefox on a MacBook, Chrome on a MacBook, Chrome on a Chromebook = no problems
(Best performance seems to be the Chromebook, but it is also the newest.)

I've spent the past several evenings trying to find an explanation for your error messages, without success. One of the error messages points to a specific post which doesn't have any suspicious content. The others point to a function rendered by the php file "activity.php", which simply renders latest posts when you click on the "what's new" link. I've run virus checkers on the server side and found nothing irregular.

There is an update for the forum software which I will install at some point over the weekend. The update will replace most of the system files, hopefully overwriting whatever your virus/malware software finds objectionable.

IE has an issue with older platforms such as many older internet forums. The fix in IE is to activate Compatibility View. The following link will instruct you on how to do so. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/i...-view#ie=ie-11 (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view#ie=ie-11)
Please note that the instructions may change depending upon your IE version. Choose the appropriate version from the dropdown in the upper right corner of the page.
Your other option is to replace Internet Explorer with a better browser such as Google's Chrome or Firefox.

Alan, thank you for your efforts. I regret this question cost you so much time.

I use AVG Internet Security and most often get the warning right after I click on What's New. I only get it on this site. Since nobody else said anything I was somewhat befuddled whether to give any substance to the warning.

I would hate to skip my few moments of reading the great ideas here.

Ok, I did the compatibility view fix and this is my first post. So far seems fine. Thanks for your efforts.

I just got this message when I clicked on my favorites for this site. I deleted it from my favorites and just typed in the whole address and it came up ok.

I tried to go to SLF on my IE recently and got a virus message upon entering SLF. After reading some of the posts earlier, I exited IE and immediately used Chrome and had no difficulty or virus message.
