I've always had alot of floaters in my eyes, but this winter has been the worst. Kind of hard to do my usual birdwatching with this debris in my eyes.......everywhere you look there are birds..........haha
Anyone know of anything you can do to minimize these?
Thanks.

I've had eye floaters for many years and don't notice them except in bright sunlight. Maybe sunglasses? Ever try to follow one?

I just got what I think were floaters for the first time, and I'm pretty sure it was part of some snow blindness.. I have started wearing sunglasses whenever I go outside on sunny days this winter. I tend to get headaches and other minor visual stuff going on if I don't.

Usually, just time takes care of them. We get adjusted and don't see them as often after awhile. I had, (what I thought), was a HUGE one just pop up one day. It looked like vitamin E capsule in my vision! I rushed to my optometrist who is also a friend and he gave me a quick look-see and told me it what it was (can't remember the medical term), but nothing to be concerned about. He said "this is going to be your new best friend.". Too which i hotly replied "No it won't!". Thought I would NEVER get used to this thing. But, as time has gone on, I see he was right and I hardly ever notice it any longer. Can't say it is my best friend but at least one that isn't so intrusive now.

Supposedly they get so big that they just fall to the floor of your eye. I think the total whiteness of all the snow definitely makes it worse. Now I have them falling downward when I blink, but the ones on the sides float up!
What fun! I guess I'm a little paranoid. My ophthalmologist quit practicing and I'm slow to find a new doc. I've had intermittent higher intraocular pressures for about 8 years, and I was seeing my doc regularly to check my eye health (tests which checked peripheral vision, optic nerve health, etc.). I haven't been in to have my eyes checked in about a year and a half........which shouldn't bother me, but I'm in a I've-got-cancer-or-something slump, and I worry about everything more.
Plus......my doc always said floaters were normal, but if they suddenly increased, then call me immediately. I'm not sure this is bad enough though. No flashing lights either.

Yes, and they have increased a lot since my mid-forties.

About 30 years ago I had them when my retina tore, then it was repaired by cryopexy surgery and they went away until the next tear, same situation. I now have them on and off and have been told it's due to old age (71).

I have lots. They come and go, float and drop and there is usually one large one that reminds me, that although he (yes, he) did not cause my vision disorder, I need to take care of my eyes. Not my best friend, but I notice it the most when I am on my right side, reading in bed.

Several that ALWAYS no matter how often it happens makes me think there are fruit flies around my head....lol...at least they are small ones.

I sometimes think that there's a bug crawling just outside of where I'm looking. They are so annoying! Anyone else notice how they have different shapes? Some are spermy, some are round. Reading in bright light is the worst....they go back and forth and back and forth.

My uncle asked his eye doctor about them and he said that there was a procedure to get rid of them, but the doctor wasn't keen on it and wouldn't even get it himself.

I agree.....It's like having bugs flying around.
Would be great if they had a safe system to "strain" the gel in the eye and get rid of them.
Sometimes I can even see blood cells coursing through vessels, in my vision.
Did you ever try to focus on one of the floaters?. It's almost impossible.

Constant. Sometimes I'd like to push the curtain back so I can see. Between floaters as thick as looking through a strainer full of worms and macular degeneration blind spots (5 in my left and 7 in my right)....I'm very fearful of the day arriving sooner than later when I have to give up driving or computer.
