View Full Version : What is your physical ideal for men and women?

Hi everyone,
I'm taking a class on gender, and our new assignment is to do an informal survey on people's physical ideals for both men and women. I've created a very simple and very short survey for it. Would love it if you can take a few minutes to respond. It's only 5 questions and totally anonymous.

:thankyou:

watergoddess, I'm a total sucker for surveys, being in market research, but I have to ask, do we have to complete our ideals for both genders? I have to say, being heterosexual, I find it difficult to think about my deals for women.

Yes, you do! :)

That part is actually proving to be quite interesting. I'll post a summary afterwards and you'll see what I mean.

I tried to take the survey, and it returned a "Thank you for taking the survey" message without my having actually taken the survey. I'm always curious about this kind of thing. I don't feel I have an "ideal", though I always have an opinion when it comes to a survey.

I went to take the survey, but couldn't get past the first 2 questions. I don't have a physical ideal for people. It all depends on other qualities. Sorry I can't help!

I'm shallow. It was easy for me. Even the part about guys...

I took the survey, but I'll bet that there is some kind of trick.

Well guys I could do real preferences I guess. But physical ideal for women - like many women - that is whatever I am not!!!!

Interesting. I did the survey. I'm definitely interested in the results. Like IL, I wonder what the expected outcome is. Is it meant to show a particular bias, I wonder?
I was going to mention another thing about my responses, but it might change other people's answers, so will leave it for now.

Thanks for the participation everyone! And there's no trick, I promise. I'm genuinely interested in people's honest responses, that's why I made it very easy and simple. So please be truthful :).

I'm going to see if I can publish the results in their entirety to make it an interesting read for you. It's my first time with this program, but hopefully it will work. I'll close the survey in a couple of days and let you guys know.

:thankyou:

p.s. Please let me know if there's any portion of the data that you would prefer I not publish, i.e., age, race, etc. I don't want anyone to feel exposed. I should be able to select which data to display, from my cursory glance at the program.

Hey everyone,
I've got a good amount of responses to the survey, so I'm including a link to the results here. There's probably a way to view the responses one by one, but I won't have time to putter with the program (plus I'm not a techie). But I think this works just fine.

My assignment for the class specifically wanted to identify race, which I don't know if they meant ethnicity, but regardless, I was more interested in how responses might change with age. Most of the students in my class are traditional age, and the responses that they've reported are very interesting. I'll post a sampling of those responses later, so you can see what I mean.

But here is the post to the survey results. I hope it updates automatically, if not, I'll update it in a couple of days.

Thanks again for your participation!

"Ideal" begs definition.

I found this photoessay wonderful:
