I'm watching that show, "Ugliest House in America," and right now they are in a row home in St. Louis. Thought you might be interested--chances are you might recognize the neighborhood. This house is ugly. It has planned holes in the floor, weird iron coffee tables, crazy colors.
It's one of the few HGTV shows that are occasionally fun to watch.

oh for God’s sake, it was fabulous, and I was in it. It’s just down the street from our old house in the city. Absolutely fabulous, a Funhouse of an artist’s imagination. The owner was a very lovely, mostly reclusive man who died a few years ago.
I heard it was making the rounds on that show. I wrote about that house here on this website a couple of years ago when it was for sale after he died.
I figured you knew of it. I don't remember your writing about it two years ago... but it was fun to see on TV.

I’m surprised at how poorly these Zillow photos show the coolness of this house. They don’t capture the details and magic of it.
no, I wouldn’t want to live there, but I would like to visit it now and then.
That place is cool! No way I'd live there because the "busyness" of it would drive me crazy but would be cool to walk through.
It certainly is interesting. Can I assume that HGTV decided to gut and make it all gray and white?
When I talked to Fritz, the real estate agent who handled it was sold, he said the new owners were going to make some changes but they wanted to keep some of the artistic stuff there, so who knows what it looks like now.Quote:

Within the same block of these folks were other artists and creatives. Their Mardi Gras parade float entry every year was spectacular.My neighborhood was a very creative space back in the day with set designers and etc.
Okay, I really like most of it! Then again, I live in an ever-evolving artist house so it's right up my alley!
That house was interesting to view but I found it crazy-making as my design sense tends to be simple and uncluttered. Too many places for the eyes to travel in that over-done home, imho. The elements fought with one another for supremacy.
Less is more rather than more is more for me.
