Pet cat photos

There are two other girls, misty and Mallory, that are a month older and are the complete opposite. They are ready for a PARTY! Two weeks now I’ve let them out of their tiny space to play in the communal area. Both weeks were 45 minutes of nonstop chasing each other and all the toys around. And both weeks when it was time for them to go back into their space they were fine with me scooping them up and putting them away.

Here they are just before I let them out. As soon as I walked in the communal space they were like "Is it play time????"

And then there's these girls. I call them Kiera 2.0 They look like her, and are almost as big as her (both just over 16 pounds). Thankfully they actually like getting love unlike Kiera. Unfortunately they are both 12 years old, so not as adoptable. They have been at the shelter for about 6 weeks now. And finally will let me pet them. The one on the right especially was purring like a chainsaw after a couple of minutes of me giving her love. I hope they can find a home that is low energy and fine with the fact that they will only be there for a few years. But those years will be all snuggles and no wild play time.

So cute! I don't think I could volunteer/work at a shelter for exactly the reason rr alluded to - I would want to bring them all home!

It is. I have to keep reminding myself that I'll get to see them the next Friday. And that if they get adopted I need to be happy for them living up to the shelter's marketing tagline "Lives Made Happy."

So we have begun the process of becoming a four cat household... Tuesday I took SO and dear MIL and dear SIL (who are in town for the week) to meet all the cuties that I take care of every Friday. I can't deny SO. (seriously, just look at his face...) And honestly these little girls are beyond adorable. But this will be the end. We're not going to take in any more. It will be much easier to just say to myself "You're adorable, but no. I can't take you home" anytime there are other sweeties at the shelter. Tomorrow after my shift I meet with the cat behaviorist to talk about whether any of them will likely have issues with a blended household. (Eleanor and Michelle came from the shelter so the behaviorists know them already) If there aren't issues we'll bring them home sometime next week after SO's mom and sister have gone back to St Louis.

Awww, how could you resist?

This is splendid news!

you never know how they’re going to react. We had one cat who we took in when our neighbor was shot and killed, one of her dozen cats, and this cat had never been a single cat, never an only cat. She was great with humans and was a little attention whore. But with other cats, she was shocked that they existed. It seems as though every day when she met another cat in her own house, she was overwhelmed with surprise they lived on thiscearth.

Cats are so funny! Our current two cats are neither friends or enemies. They pretty much ignore each other.
