Okay, I envy you the weather, truly, but not the danger involved!
Awesome to see these photos. Thanks.
Awesome warning “ Divers have died here” oooooo-Kay. Great photos otherwise.
Yes, Tradd, You are so brave! I love that you shared the pictures of your adventure. I would be joining you in the last photo ON THE DECK!!! Congratulations!
Wonderful pictures! Looks like you had a fabulous time - except maybe for the shredded fingers - ouch! Thanks for sharing.
Yes, ouch on the fingers, but glad you had a good time and lived to tell about it!
Thanks to you Tradd I had a nightmare about a claustrophobic swimming situation. Blech. Even during the dream I was thinking to myself “why would anyone do this voluntarily?”
Ha, ha Iris Lilies.
Iris, I will not apologize’
Those are absolutely breathtaking pictures. I am claustrophobic and it has gotten worse as I have gotten older. I am so jelly that you can do that.
Ok! In my dream I was going to compete with my cousin in a swimming event but in order to get down to the pool we had steps down in a very long tunneled low ceiling place, kind of like a subway entrance only with very low ceiling. It was horrible.
This particular cousin has been dead for some years. It’s not even a cousin I was especially close to.
Just got home. I left Nashville at 3:45 am to attempt to beat the snow. It started about 3 hours before I got home. Only saw one plow truck in IN. Lots as soon as I crossed the border into IL. Roads were iffy in IN but just wet in IL due to the plow trucks spreading salt. Came home to a lovely pile of Christmas cards. Ordered food for delivery from a local Thai place - pepper steak and rice with egg rolls on the side. Hauling in stuff and have to do a load of laundry. Had done laundry where I was staying on Saturday so I don’t have a ton to do.
Welcome back, safe and sound.
Another diver told me to put Carmex (medicated lip balm) on the shredded fingertips and it really has helped.
As I’ve explained before, there were tons of diver deaths in the 60s and 70s before cave training was established. Not sure if I linked to this before. Sheck Ellet, a FL cave diving pioneer, wrote this book and developed the rules from analyzing cave diving accidents. Not having a continuous guideline to the surface, enough lights that lasted the length of the dive, exceeding your training, or going too deep are major factors. Many open water regular divers died in the caves in the early days and some still do. Testosterone poisoning or stupidity.
It’s interesting reading.

Decided I’m most likely NOT going to do rebreather next year. I would be biting off too much with the dive goals I already have for the year. Took a bunch of cash out of the scuba fund and threw some on cc and most on car loan
A friend who was going to go rebreather too is waiting another year as well. She wants to put a big dent in her school loans.
Been three weeks since I was in the water. May not dive again until early March. Due to buddy availability. One just had lasik surgery and can’t dive for a month. The other buddy has a crazy work schedule.
Hurt my lower back after falling on ice three weeks ago. Finally able today to do dumbbell squats again. My underdesk cycle is da bomb. I do at least half hour most days. Cancelled gym membership. I’m able to workout much more frequently since it’s at home now. Did 22.5 miles in 51 minutes yesterday and 24.1 miles in 55 minutes today. Feels great.
Smart woman, Tradd!
Thanks, razz! Making full use of my non-diving time.
Just found this video. It’s the Devil’s Eye cave at Ginnie Springs in FL. Gives you a good idea of that dive.

Just found out the local diving hole is likely opening in early May not April. That messes with my plans big time. I need at least a month of work on skills before I can resume the deco procedures class I started last year.
You are BRAVE!! The video is amazing and horrifying to me. You are amazing, not horrifying, and so strong!
Video isn’t showing up for me. That is the cave where I got the shredded fingertips!
Posting just link.
