Congrats on passing full cave!!! Love the pic.
Quoting from The Travels of Tradd:
”Tradd passed her full cave challenge, and upon conquering that large hurdle, decided never to dive in a cave again. Her internet forum friends all sighed in relief.”
Those cenotes are full of all kinds of treasures, but yeah--what Iris Lily said.
Nope. Won’t be quitting. LOL.
Beautiful picture! What a way to spend your summer vacation!
If anyone would like a link to the photos and vids from MX trip, let me know and I will PM you the link. Not going to post it publicly since it shows my real name.
Created another Google account so I could anonymously upload video to YT. This is a fun dive the day after I was done with class.

Our lights coming up from a dive

That background is really spectacular in nature’s artistic beauty. All the colors of green! All the textures! Just gorgeous.
I don’t know why, but the separate Google account I had created just to be able to post vids was terminated. Weird.
Edit: got google account reinstated. Not sure what the deal was.
+1
Love the sound effects too!
Very cool videos!! How deep is the pool in the second - where the lights are coming up? Looks shallow enough to wade across, but I'm thinking not. LOL.
Thanks so much for sharing.
The cenote (sink hole) at Tajma Ha is only shallow at the edge. There were snorkelers while we were there. Where you enter the cave, it drops off very sharply. I don’t really know how deep the entire pool is. We were only in the one section. Might have to do some googling later to find out.
That is definitely a photo for my Christmas card!
Got some maybe yay! news about my rebreather. Instructor is trying to get mfg to ship for arrival by the 16th. Class would start the 17th/18th if it arrives by the 16th. Also depends on if my classmate from MN is able to make it, too.
Fingers-crossed that it all works out, Tradd!
Thank you, happy!
And it has! Instructor told me today that the mfg will ship with delivery by 9/17. That means class starts on 9/18 with hands on classroom and a pool session. Then we have our first open water dives on 9/25. The first two weekends of October are also set aside for class. We may not need the second weekend in October, but it’s available if we need it.
I’m so danged excited for rebreather class that my stuff is already packed. Rebreather ships to instructor’s shop so I won’t see it until the 18th. I was told to bring my entire hose stash as we’re not sure what length will be needed for some hoses. Depends on how unit sits on me. Dug through spares box and pulled out the ones I might need, which are of them. Gathered the other needed little bits and bobs together. Pulled out bathing suit, rash guard, leggings, and a towel for the pool.
Glad to have all that stuff out of the way.
What soes a re breather do?
It’s a closed breathing loop. There is a canister with a granular soda lime stuff that scrubs the carbon dioxide out of your exhaled breath. O2 is then added as needed. Much more efficient use of breathing gas than open circuit scuba (aka bubbles).
Quite expensive startup costs though. Mine was $9300 new and initial training is $1600. Rebreathers can easily kill you if there is too much or too little O2 so training is much more extensive than usual scuba training.
LOL
It’s not cave diving!
Here’s a more complete explanation:

LOL. Not planning on it!
Well it does seem my rebreather shipped yesterday or will today. A friend was at the manufacturer (KISS) yesterday and she sent me this photo. The office car, known as KISS Kat, had inspected my boxes up, ready to go rebreather. :D I told the friend she should have moved the car and taken a photo of the Fedex label visible in another photo. I want the tracking number so I can track it myself and leave everyone alone! LOL

Class and pool session yesterday were awesome. No bubbles!

Up in WI for 2nd and 3rd days of rebreather class open water dives. Last Sunday was 1st day. Buoyancy is so much different than open circuit (bubbles). Very rough. I thought the day had gone badly but instructor said I was pretty good about monitoring O2 percentage and keeping it at what she had told us. That’s the important thing, so it was a much better day than I thought.
How great that you can keep the O2 correct! The rest will improve, I am sure. You amaze me!
Passed my class. Yay! Now to get out and dive!
