Canada Dry [way to bold] Ginger Ale

Like I said, people seem to love it or hate it. If you really want it to stay available, buy it when you see it. Otherwise it will be discontinued like so many other experiments that didn't sell well enough to justify mass production.

For me it has only two benefits: Since I drink it highly diluted with water, my intake of high-fructose corn syrup calories is greatly diminished while still getting the level of flavor I want. And for the same reason, my cost per ounce is likewise greatly reduced.

Doesn't seem to be readily available in Canada yet, I checked Walmart and my favourite grocery store online.

I drink it straight. Fever Tree is ranked one of the best ginger beers, and they use real cane sugar. But I personally like Reed's brand. I always look for ginger beers with REAL ginger, not ginger flavor. That's important to me.

Canada Dry is made with real ginger extract and natural flavors. Personally I'm a lot more concerned about the high fructose corn syrup and sodium benzoate in softdrinks than whether their flavors are real or simulated.

BTW ginger ale and ginger beer are not the same thing. Ginger beer has a far stronger flavor than ginger ale. ... Bundaberg Ginger Beer is traditionally brewed over 3 days using real ginger, whereas ginger ale is often a version of carbonated water that's flavored with ginger syrup.

I'm well aware. If I ask DH to get me ginger beer and he comes home with ginger ale, there's hell to pay.

Lovely to have a kindred spirit in the real ginger beer discussion. I have given up mentioning it as most people have not experienced proper real ginger=based beer. The flavoured sugary stuff sold as ginger ale is a major disappointment so I simple drink water instead. Hope the real stuff gets to Canada eventually.

I think it's our shared connection to the Brits--yours by nationality (and likely ancestry) and mine by ancestry. My Scottish MIL introduced me to ginger beer.

Thinking about the wonderful drinks MIL opened my eyes to, shall we have a discussion about Irn Bru?

I had to look up Im Bru to see what it was. It is the other Scottish drink. A Scottish store near Toronto has a limited number in stock. Will keep my eye open when I am out and about as it sounds interesting. I never acquired a taste for Scotch itself as a drink though.

Irn Bru is non-alcoholic. It's what you drink after you've had too much Scotch.
