as always, the question is who will take his place?. Will it be any better, rhe new regieme? I suppose we will pour more pallets of cash to prop up whatever regime we think will be OK there.

here’s what I don’t understand: the Mamdami bots who were marching and screaming about Palestinian casualties in Gaza are completely silent about the protesters in Iran, being killed by the thousands.
It is impossible to know what the death rate of protestors is in Iran , but I’ve seen estimates ranging from 3000 to 35,000 in such a short time compared to maybe twice as much as that in Palestine over three years.
You would think the campus folks and others who value freedom from tyranny would be marching in absolute support of those in Iran who were giving up their lives to overthrow the Khomani administration.
Now, I don’t think we should start a war to help with that civil unrest in Iran, but we’ve already done it so we’re in it now. and really it’s about oil and controlling oil in the Middle East, and less about helping a revolt of The People.
and once again, I want to express my admiration for Iranian citizens who face sure death for taking on their leader and his military. there was a time when Iran was a modern country, many decades ago. it would be wonderful if some of that light could be let into Iran again.
Just waiting for Trump to proclaim that "maybe we should suspend elections during war time."
As far as distractions, I'm going to give the American people credit where credit is due; the Epstein Files are NOT going to go away, no matter how much Trump throws at the wall to see what will stick the People will not let it fade away. We all collectively can chew gum and walk at the same time.
This morning we watched CNN, Fox and BBC coverage. Interesting slant on the coverage.
Ranged from this is the best thing any President has done to make America first and put our country first to this is illegal and will drag us further into the Middle East. Also potential terrorism in the US and our overseas bases being targeted. BBC mentioned some Civilian casualties as well.
Can a President do this without Congressional approval?
What is the limiting or end strategy?
i don’t think I can ever forget being a teenager and young adult during the Vietnam war, the draft and massive US casualties. Shaped my world view.
Good one. I don't know that the attack in itself was wrong, but how it proceeded without congress and the risk of escalation is not nothing. Even our democrat governor who is frequent critic of trump has been reserved in any criticism. I refreshed my scant memory of the Ayatollah. He was a very bad man. I had a work friend who came here from Iran decades ago to escape the oppressive politics. He described the Iranian government as a member of the triangle of pure evil, which included North Korean and another place I can't remember..
This morning I am astonished, it is beyond my comprehension, that there are self proclaimed progressives offering sadness that the Khomeini regime in Iran toppled.
i *do* understand:
* concern about Trump acting war-like without Congress backup… that is always a concern with any President in these actions
* concern about the US being dragged into a never-ending conflict
* this attack by the US and Israel provoking a big conflation in the Middle East that spreads into a bigger uncontrollable war
I consider all three of these to be reasonable concerns by normal thinking, logical Americans.
I would warn AOC and Newsome and any other politician who is courting the lefty loos to be VERY careful in their messaging about this. if they hint that they are sorry Khomeini went down, their opponent will take advantage of that and promote it, and that stupidity will not resonate with the American public.
