Hoosiernan, I think.

Ireally miss Mrs. M with her slant on savings in everyday life with her family and her enjoyments of everday events, like hanging out the laundry.....she was as sweet soul.
Mrs. M still posts occasionally as a guest, not sure what that's about.
What about the lady from Idaho....Onion-something? Maybe has a new handle? Then there was the Lady from florida who said she worked at a bank, and was very preoccupied with various relationship issues, finding the right guy. She frequently axed you kids for advice, seems I remember.. Then there was "Puglogic", Kenneth, 1320Life, and Cuzzin it. Wasn't he the guy that was homeless? And the "Sam Gribley" person Francie mentioned later came back for awhile as "James", , was it?
I too have thought of many of the folks mentioned here:
ScreamingFlea
Jill Sanders
HoosierNan
Buck - for some reason I associate him with smoking a professor's pipe, is there a reason for that?
Zigzagman
Mrs. M - I will never look at a laundry pin the same way.
Zoebird - Did she ever tell us how the transition back to the States from NZ was for her?
I really enjoyed reading her detailed posts.
Tradd -- thankfully still here, but I became obsessed with knowing what finally happened to the lady that kept falling asleep at her desk in her office.
Oh yeah, screamingflea andWJSimon. Miss those two folks. Among many others who have been mentioned.
Herbgeek and Kib.........yes! It was HoosierNan. I was sorta close! It was all very sad. :(
Mtnlaurel, the woman who kept falling asleep at her desk retired last spring.
Someone mentioned "Jonathon", the fellow from Minnesota. I guess he was really very involved in defining and promoting the whole concept of Simple Living, did some writing on the subject, and as part of his research, traveled around and met certain, selected participants of the forum. Also, spent a lot of time posting and moderating. I believe he not only did that, but owned a nice, older home and maintained it, and held a very good job as IT man at a major hospital, and was pursuing yet another college degree! Wow. I would guess he probably decided to downsize & simplify a bit, and unless he is posting occasionally under an alias, is no longer active with this. Maybe he's on another board. Don't know.
I met Jonathon and his wife once at a Midwest Renewable Energy Fair. They dropped off the radar soon after that, though (no relation to the two events I hope). I also met Dave WisconsinBadger. They moved to be near their kids and grandkids after retiring, so he changed his name but I forget what he changed it to. They stayed at my place on their way through TN many years ago. Nice couple.
I haven't seen Kally around here for quite some time. Hope she's ok.
I wrote a short piece as a reference for the last carnation of the SL site and Jonathon helped with the editing. He was a very sharp guy and a good writer. I remember as a moderator he had somewhat of a heavy hand to keep things on the SL topic. Seems like I've seen a post or two from him lately. but jp3 has given me some good advice.
You can't. If someone closes their account their comments remain. The status associated with those existing comments changes from member to guest, but they won't be able to post anything else unless they reactivate their account.
Or a diaper.
Okay--how could I forget--"Bronxboy". I see Bronxboy is still registered, but hasn't been active for several years, now, unless he's a lurker. His deal was, living in a high-rent suburban area(was it Montgomery County, Md.), and trying to stay Real, instead of just keeping-up-with-the-joneses. That, would be a challenge.
Packy.........I thought you were fairly new here. Did you used to have a different name? (or is that a secret?)
Packy I seem to recall some of your posts saying 'little bitty' or 'itty bitty'. Doubt that is a coincidence.
I think of WJ Simon often. Wonder how her daughter is doing. Someone exposed or outed WJ on the old site if I remember that right.
I remember Screaming Flea moved across country with her dog. She worked in customer service I think.
HoosierNan- I thought she passed away from the cancer. Didn't she leave her husband and then found out she had cancer. or vice versa.
Jill Sanders- lots of drama there.
Isn't Homenurse now domesticgodess?
Simpler at Fifty......I believe Hoosier Nan found out about the cancer after she'd left her husband. Didn't have much time to enjoy the peace and quiet. :(
I wonder if Chickadee aka Cougar Annie came back with an alias. I never held that against her, we were all so gullible! ... I kinda miss Cougar Annie, actually. :-)
Who was it who was going to live in (?) Mexico for a while, with her young daughter, was that EJ Chase? Or WJ Simon? Seem to recall it was two initials and a name.
dado potato, that's it. :)
Okay--I know there are several Perfeshonall Lirrrarrans on this board, and I cannot believe not one of them recalled KShankar! She, is a very highly qualified library science guru, and a very fine SL participant. I believe she moved to Europe, awhile back. But, you knew that. Well, didn't you?
Matisse! I've been trying to remember her name for ages, so thanks! I remember once that Trisha or Pat somebody had fallen on really hard times and Matisse set up a paypal account for her and basically challenged us to put our money were our mouths were. I don't know how it ended up but I know I donated and had several offboard conversations with her about the situation. I think she finally was banned for being too rude to less liberal posters. I seem to remember that Sylvan was banned for the same thing. I had a different name on the old board, but I remember all of the aforementioned posters fondly - especially Billy BareButt. He was very funny. He was also a great advocate of the agricultural extension service.
Well, Early morning; I am sitting here, trying to figure out just what your name was, before?
Don't feel bad, I used to post/read a lot over a number of years. I haven't been here in over a year but I'm eating lunch at my desk and need a bit of an escape. No one missed me either apparently, lol.
I haven't had much time on the internet the past couple of years. New much more demanding job, got within 10K of paying off the old house and then had a mammoth undertaking of a fixer-upper house, finally got new house liveable and now started a dissertation.
Earlier this morning, a colleague sent me a piece about fundraising and the Lunar New Year, titled "Dispatch from China to Advancement Offices" and randomly I wondered what Lhamo was up to these days. So, that's how I ended up here today.
I definitely think of the regulars here from time to time...everyone here helped shaped my values, etc around finances and leading a generally simpler life.
Nice to see you jennipurr!
I still pop in from time to time. Still in China, though hopefully not for too much longer. Wrestling with the question of whether or not we can FIRE in the next few months, and I post more frequently on the MMM forums now because there is more active discussion/consideration of issues related to that decision there than there seems to be here.
I am friends with Jonathan, Crystal, KShankar and a few others from the old Mod Squad on Facebook, and all are well.
Hey Packy - I was ganderswamp. not a terribly active poster but frequent lurker, lol.
Packy.....you still haven't said you used to be?? cow-hi
I received an email notification today from Yahoo Groups, reminding me of a group I joined years ago. I decided to visit the group page and while I was there, I was reminded of several other groups I belonged to that I'd forgotten about. They are simple living photo groups where forum members from 10 years or so ago posted pics. Lots of names there that I'd forgotten about.
