Thanks for the update, IL. It is sad.
We buried my mom's ashes yesterday and - I've said it before - family makes such a difference in times like this. I'm so blessed and grateful for mine.
Happystuff, I am so glad your family is there for you, that is the way it should be. Hugs.
Thank you, IL. It is good to hear that it was an acute event. How wonderful that she had been in constant contact with her friend who was able to contact the police as soon as she suspected Jane might need help.
I have surprised myself recently at how often my thoughts will flicker to something Jane has said, usually having to do with medicine and diet, so if her sister and her nephew have no interest in being her memory keeper, we can at least be part of that along with her real-life friends.
I haven't been on the boards much recently and just saw this. Thank you, IL, for making the effort to check on her and letting us know. Goodbye for now, Jane!
Does anyone remember Nan from the old boards? She died of cancer. Anyway—every time I use my crockpot and lift the lid on it while it is cooking, I think of Nan who complained when her husband or sons did the same. Lifting the lid lets out much energy and it takes quite a while to build back up.But I do it anyway! Much to
nan’s chagrin.
I think I do remember Nan!
I totally remember her. She applied for a job and decided it was too good to be true. So I decided to apply for a job there and ended up getting the job and it turning into a full time gig for years and still part time and husband works there too.
Hoosier Nan, right? Left an abusive relationship, got her own little trailer set up like she wanted, died of cancer? that was really sad, I liked her too. I wonder about a lot of people on the old site - especially Chickadee, our "creative writer". And Sylvan, banned for being too vocal about being very very left-wing. Stella, from single to married with multiple children - she always reminded me of AmyD, the Frugal Zealot. Diana in Wisconsin - who, as I recall, was very big on having multiple streams of income. Screaming flea from Louisville - she moved to the West coast, I think? And has anyone heard from Cathy A?
Tybee, that's great that you got in with the "too-good-to-be-true" place!! Sounds like it must have been a really good fit for you. :)
Yes indeed, and I felt so sad for her when she moved out and was so excited for a new start and then passed away with cancer. I wish she could have taken the job as it might have been her financial salvation.
I have worked there for 15 years now, and my husband for 12, I think. He is still full time and I hope he stays several more years.
Okay--you kids forgot to remember Packy who is and was a very great and of course B R I L L I A N T man, with his opinions on everything from pizza consumption and of course lawn care obsessions and the excesses of lockers beef. Yup But yeah---I heard he started up his own Cat Chat forum and is bust COMPLETELY refurbishing old Packards from the late 50's. How do you like that?
Also, Senor PA KY has very strong options about egg checking and rotisserie chicken. Chickens are pets, and should NOT be eaten. Nope.
yes, it was sad that Nan kind of got her life in order and where she wanted and then came down with cancer.
I don’t remember that Sylvan was banned tho he might’ve been given time out for being rude. Being banned for being left wing was just not a thing then, and I don’t even remember that he was very very left-wing. He was just… Canadian. And young.
I’m on a Facebook page with Stella and Diana in Wisconsin as well as a couple others from this site. They are both doing well. Stella has children out of high school. Hard to believe those kids are that old!
I remember Packy. A rather colorful character. Maybe if he had most interest in restoring old Scouts and Broncos he would be rich. I understand those are the hot new collectables, although I do appreciate old Packards. Looking back at older posts, there has been a loss of diversity, although the number of "guests" can be a lot at times. I miss Steve in MN. Seems like he promised to check in occasionally.
I miss Karen in Bisbee, a funny poster. I hope razz is OK.
I do not miss Packey.
