Would you believe I did not know what Tucker Carlson even looks like until he got off Fox News. Those network talking heads must be on strict contractural lockdown, forbidden to show their faces on the podcasts I consume.

I only heard of the Morning Joe show because my friend mentioned it once or twice. Later I watched a video clip where Russell Brand decimated the hosts of that show but there was no man name “Joe” on it so I was confused because I thought there was supposed to be a Joe there hence the double entendre of the name of the show. So I was puzzled by that but apparently that Joe talking head guy was just absent that day. Later I learned his wife is that short haired blonde woman and my, she is dumb.

What a great practice! Yesterday I had quick-turnaround report, so I got up at 3AM and worked until 11AM. After I sent it to the client, I just chilled, no TV, just read and relaxed and took a nap. It was late before DH and I turned on the TV. It was a day that I would describe as "gentle" without all that noise in the background (we do watch too much CNN, and DH likes to watch cooking shows).

I am watching a three part documentary about ice dancing on Netflix. It’s high drama because Ice dancing at the Olympics is going on right now, or perhaps it just concluded. But I didn’t follow it so I don’t know who won and now I’m going to finish this documentary which highlights the leading contenders for 2026 Olympic gold before I watch results.

I learned an important fact about ice dancing: when the elite teams are developing their routines for Olympics and other important competitions, judges sit in on their practice sessions and offer constructive criticism about moves, music, overall choreography, etc. That is interesting insider information.

also, so many skaters in ice dancing, and presumably pairs competition don’t really live in the country they represent in the Olympics because it is so difficult to find an appropriate partner. Sometimes two partners have to move to a immigration friendly country to be together as a team for Olympic purposes. Sometimes only one of the pair moves to the other person’s home country and gets citizenship.

I remember some drama about Tanith Beltran back in the early 200o’s moving from
Canada to the u.S and there being some consternation about her getting US citizenship in time to compete. That’s the last ice dance pair I paid attention to and they were stunning

You never know what the media is going to pick up and even some podcasters are obsessed with this story.

I think it is a little bit more interesting than the usual story about young blonde girls getting killed/disappeared. I mean, it’s a kidnapping. a little old lady. Her daughter is famous.


So it’s a little bit out of the mold. I’ll tell you when the Gabby Petipo (or whatever her name was ) story went on and on I thought for heavens sake who cares. She’s just another victim of domestic abuse and it’s pretty obvious so why must we be obsessed about this one story when there’s 100 stories like that right now across the country.

I am watching a Canadian show, Family Law, and really enjoying it. Lots of creative plots with interesting family dynamics.

Finished the One Dollar Lawyer a Kdrama on Disney+. Cheon Jihon is a lawyer who only charges a retainer of 1,000 South Korean Won approx $.74 regardless of the case. How and they why he does this explained in the story. The main plot is Baek Mira finished her internship in the Prosecutor's office and expects to work as an attorney in her grandfather's firm. He surprises everyone by offering her a position on the condition she work for Cheon for two months. Hilarity ensues.

Also saw the new Muppet Show, wasn't impressed. Seeing humans in the audience was off putting and it seemed like a bunch of celebrities created a self insert Muppets fan fic. Worst part was Statler and Waldorf were tame with their insults.

We watched the first two episodes of 11/22/63 last night. So far, so good!

okay----i think i'm gonna sit-n-watch an old(1977) moo-vee that i've never seen, called "Oh God" . But yeah, just about every actor in it is now deceased. The moo-vee was direcred by Meatheads' Dad, and they are both gone, too. So anyway, the film(moo--vvee) was well-received back in the day; they even made a sequel to cash in on the popularity. Yup. Wish me luck.

We finished 11/22/63 last night and overall we enjoyed it. I think you might like it Bobby, but I don't know if you have Netflix access. My DH got a bit agitated at times over the dumb mistakes being made by Jake and Bill though, and I kept reminding him that it was fiction.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. For me it was eye candy with the vintage 50' and early 60's autos, although I think many were computer generated. And the MCM furnishing and dress, too.

I just started Luna and Sophie on PBS Passport. It's a German murder mystery series, with each episode a new crime to be solved. It filmed in bright surroundings and entertaining detectives who aren't reformed alcoholics with divorce problems. The European housing culture and furnishing are interesting. Unless a person speaks German, the subtitles are needed.

Watched a pretty decent movie on Hulu - Rental Family with Brendan Fraser. He plays an actor living in Japan who in desperation takes a job with a business providing make-believe characters to those who pay for special situations - funerals, weddings, etc. He develops strong relationships with his clients and realizes the deceit of pretending to be what he is not. Nice ending too.

I’ve been watching mediocre video for what seems like months now, so when I saw The Forsytes show up on Netflix, I thought I would watch it again.

oh my God, I had forgotten how utterly absorbing this is. Soames and his obssion with With the cold hearted seductress Irene. I adore this production! Damian Lewis stars and is brilliant. gina
mcKee is an acquired taste. Supporting cast is wonderful.

Poor, poor Soames, such a sweetly-sad ending for him.

Watched the K drama Wok of Love, a chef in a fancy restaurant loses his job and fiancee on the same day, he vows revenge and decides to take over the just closed Chinese restaurant across the street. The restaurant a cover for a gangster trying to go legit, decides give the chef the restaurant provided he hires the gangster's associated. A Chaebol (South Korean elite) looks for a job since her father was arrested and assets frozen during her wedding and now she and her mom have been abandoned by their friends. She gets work at the restaurant and is joined by her mother, and their housekeeper, and driver.

It should be an interesting mix of slice of life, legal drama, and comedy, but it falls flat. The Chaebol princess is pretty much 30, and everyone treats her like she's a misbehaving child. Since it's a romantic K drama, good is rewarded, evil punished, the main couple have a happy ever after. Husband told me the ending I tapped out at episode 17 of 19.

We just watched the Netflix movie Nuremberg tonight. Very powerful. Great acting & script. It's not light fare but has lessons that are important lest we repeat them today...

Have any of you seen Sinners yet? I'm hearing good things about it from people who say they don't usually like horror movies, and as a horror movie fan I think I need to seek it out.

I watched the film “roof man “which was a fun little film. It’s about the burglar who enters McDonald’s from the roof, eventually gets caught, goes to jail, escapes, and lives in a Toys “R” Us store for six months evading the police.

Yes, I saw it. It was really well done. I also hate horror movies, but this wasn't horror for the sake of horror. There is a lot more infused in it. I have to admit that I think I was tired when I watched it so I wasn't that emotionally invested in it. I'd actually like to see it again.

okay---i been watching more autobody repair videos, just for fun. One thing i ran across is the technique of using an electric DA sander. It fills a gap between using an electric grinder for rapid stock removal, and a pneumatic DA sander. Yup. Though professional-grade electric DA sanders are expensive, i bought The Cheapest one available, to try one out, and yeah----they are highly effective. Maybe you kids will purchase one, too. Yup. Hope that helps you some.

You guys! I went to the movie theater yesterday to see Project Hail Mary! This is a big deal because I hadn't been inside a movie theater since the debut of Titanic in 1997, so 29 years ago. It was an experience, with online ticket selection, big reclining seats (that suck if you are little and short because your feet don't even come close to reaching the floor), a bar (we did not partake), and all-automated concessions. We went for the Dolby showing rather than IMAX, because the IMAX would have put us in lousy traffic going home. As someone who just watches movies on her laptop or tiny screen TV, I think it was a fine choice and that IMAX might have made my head explode, lol. It was intense enough for us!

We went because I loved the book SO much. Like many others, I wondered if they could possibly do justice to the character Rocky, and I'm so glad to report that they succeeded. It was a good time.

I got a free Apple TV subscription for a few months and so I’m watching The Studio with Seth Rogen. It is very good, but Hollywood always knows how to make good TV shows about itself. There’s a long line of them.

Thanks for the review, Rosa, I wondered about Rocky. Listened to the audiobook and looking forward to seeing it in the theater. Think Project Hail Mary qualifies as needs to be seen on a big screen.

Finished Undercover Miss Hong, a Kdrama set during the 1997 IMF crisis. Hong Guem Bo is an inspector at the Financial Supervisory Services, kind of like the South Korean SEC, when she goes undercover as an entry level employee at Hannin Securities to investigate when her source dies mysteriously in a car accident shortly after their meeting without delivering a key piece of evidence. Hong is 35 and borrows her kid sister's identity to play a 20 year old.

Fun idea with some twists and turns, part mystery part thriller.

Saw Project Hail Mary today. I had not read the book. Maybe I should have. Some of the dialog was tough for me to follow. Might've been the sound. Movies are really loud!

All in all, I thought it was a cross between Silent Running and ET. Ryan Gosling is charming though and did a good job.

Looks like I'll have to put Project Hail Mary on my list.

It's getting a lot of buzz (as in my son went to see it--he is my source for good new movies). I should check out the book.

Tybee, I suggest listening to the audiobook. Sound and how it's used plays a large role in the plot.

Saw Project Hail Mary last night, it was a great movie to see on a big screen. The music was really loud, but I think that was a theater issue and not a film issue.

Onlu gripe is they cut out some of the science stuff in the movie, the book goes into more detail about the Petrova line with Grace's students and the task force. The movie is over 2.5 hours and something had to be cut.

The past two days I’ve been watching videos about Van conversions. People live in vans, not regular big RVs, and their imaginative outfitting of these vans is fascinating.

I will confess that I actually pay for an ad free subscription to YouTube so that’s how I can stand to watch all this stuff. I love YouTube.

I also have a new favorite Jewish influencer. I love my young Jewish influencers and podcasters. This guy is making great AI videos satirizing antisemitism and radical Islam, very funny.

Thoreau on evil and politically biased PBS. Simplify simplify.

Well the book was better as always. I had seen and enjoyed The Martian by Weir, and I enjoyed the book Project Hail Mary enough that I've added The Martian to my TBR list, even though I've see the movie.

To Hana's point, I don't think the movie covered the science nearly as well as the book.

Finally saw Sinners last night and really enjoyed it! The visuals were pretty stunning, the music was excellent and the acting was great, and we were watching it on my little laptop! Plus there were some truly terrifying moments and vampires and quite a bit of gore! What more could one ask for?
