I even had a bottle of vinegar past its due date. How lame is that? I am not counting that in my discard list because I will still use it for cleaning toilets.
I soaked red beans last night that weren't expired for cooking in the crock pot today. I am going to try to use up all the odds and ends in the other storage spots before they expire as well. So today's menu will be seaweed, red bean, canned octopus, barley and mung bean casserole. I am sure the family will be thrilled. :)

This one took a while because it was kind of a biggie. I ripped my cassettes onto my computer for future listening. Most of what remained was recordings of live radio shows which were one-time events and which won't likely be repeated. Time capsules, and they were fun to listen to again as I digitized them. I hadn't heard some of them in, probably, decades.
Doing this, however, lets me pass on to some thrift-store buyer 28 cassettes and the cassette decks (two of them, from thrift stores, in case one died in the process) and the cables which they use. I gain some shelf space by the stereo. And I get to check off something that's been on my to-do list for years.
Current total: 86 items (yeah, I'm counting each cassette 'cuz it took time to set up the ripping process)

--1 water bottle---2 broaches--to charity

19 - entire bag of plastic containers w/lids, recycled!
20 - bag of useful items to work
21 - large tin can used to prop up door of old dishwasher - recycled
22 - kitchen witch - off to the sale box
We cleaned out our downstairs closet and mostly just recycled paper, but we did find a small bike someone had passed on to our toddler daughter that she never really liked, so we passed it on. Up to 56!
We put a dresser and a mattress out on the curb. Somebody took the dresser (yay recycling!), and the city's bulky item pickup took the mattress. We replaced both things, but I'm counting these anyway. A big part of my decluttering philosophy is to only have things in our house we love, and we like the new dresser and new mattress a whole lot more than the old ones.
Up to 58!
One more item sold on eBay . . .

I can't even begin to list it, but our internet was down yesterday so I got DH on board and we purged.
At least 200 items are going to the thrift shop including books, clothes, office supplies, a flat screen monitor, art supplies, sewing supplies, sheet music books, kitchen items, bedding, etc.....
I returned a key that belongs to a colleague of mine who had given it to me for work-related reasons that no longer exist.
Laugh all you want, but I am counting it. That darn thing has been in my coin purse for six months. Up to 59.
I think we can declare Float On the winner of this month's challenge!
WTG Float-on!!
22 + 3 bottles of spray shower cleaner (I never use the stuff; I have no idea how it got into my cupboard!) to DSis, who does use it, and 1 bag of old zip-lock type bags, again to DSis, who has a use for them = 26. Hey, it's not a lot but it's gone, lol.
Yeah FloatOn!!!!!!
Returned four picture frames that I bought then realized I wasn't going to use. Up to 63.
Ah, thanks. I accept the virtual crown....good thing it's not a real one or I'd have to take it to the thrift shop.
I'm in one of my current manic minimalist phases. Which means the house is good and clean....and I'm not shopping.
I have one son who hordes books and movies while the other clothes. I have to keep both their doors closed so I just don't see their mess. Makes me nervous.
Nice progress, everyone. FloatOn, your crown is beautiful. You wear it so well. :)
I parted with all the textiles I'd been saving up for recycling, only to discover the place that takes them closed their near location and their other one is too much of an effort. So they went in the trash. :( = 1
3 kitchen items for Bridging

Getting there!! I am going to go spend some time in the basement right now. It is driving me bonkers. My hubby started demo-ing before removing all the items, so everything is covered in dust. Then we had an egress window installed this week and I failed to realize a wet saw would be involved, and all the dusty sh*t got wet with cement water. DH was making good progress in cleaning it up, truly, but today he's working outside and it is time for me to FINISH clearing up this disaster area.
Can add a stack of boxes to the declutter list, but not much else. At least some of it's out of the basement and other items are put away rather than strewn about, but I pooped out. And after I even used all caps for the word "finish." Shame on me. ;)
+1 = 48
I mailed off 45 pieces of my daughter's clothing which she has outgrown to her cousin who is one year younger.
Returned 6 items to LL Bean from an insane online shopping binge I went on in September.
Returned a pair of pants to JCrew - they have been sitting in my closet with the tags on since July!
Up to 115!
ejchase gets a crown too!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Man, you guys make me tired just READING about your accomplishments, lol.
Fidgie, bummer about the textile recycle spot. Good on you for having the strength to dump them. I really have problems with that. I try really hard to connect my cast-offs with an end user and avoid trashing stuff, I even avoid GW etc when I can; they are overstuffed and getting pricey here. So clothing mostly goes to a shelter, housewares etc to a local veteran's org, recycles to various centers, but it takes longer, more effort, and does not always improve my mood, lol. I do trash the trash, but other stuff is hard. I really need to learn when to just LET IT GO. But on the up side, today I finally matched a box of shoe covers with a 501c3 neighborhood association that does Christmas house tours every other year. I'll drop them off tomorrow after work, yay! Those silly things (left here by a BIL, for no apparent reason) have been here for over a year while I tried to find a home for them. See, if I were sane, I'd have dumped them at GW ages ago, and been done with it. But I'm a work in process, lol.
Forgot - #28 - passed on a pair of moosehide moccs to my aunt yesterday.
My daughter has outgrown two pairs of rain boots, so we passed them on to a friend.
Tossed an old copy of Pat the Bunny that was too torn-up to give to the thrift store.
Up to 118.
The dog's basket got emptied and cleaned, threw out his bandanas and ratty toys, washed his collars and stuffed toys, and one nice toy going into the office for another dog tomorrow. Next job I'm tackling is box of old computer stuff. They use or sell the old peripherals at work, so that's where the box's items will be going.
1 blanket to an informal drive at work
1 screen to the alley (was never the right size for any window in house)
1 album given to SiL
1 shirt sold on eBay
= 52
Cued up - an old fire extinguisher. Not sure how to dispose of it, though. Anyone? It's not one of the dry ones. bae?
+1 body pillow returned to my FiL
+1 album returned to MiL

54 for the month! Wow! Not 100 (always shooting for 100), but not zero! Now on to start December's. :)
I'm putting these here because they're from yesterday:
an old sweater of mine that had a hole and a stain and a dress-up shoe of my daughter's that lost its frilly decoration - 120 for the month!
I gave away 6 or 7 books last week. I'm feeling the urge to purge my books again. I sold a few collectibles on ebay, probably about 10 things or so. So about 20 things for November. And I feel like I'm forgetting something.
