DH had a good check-up and has finally graduated to annual follow-ups! With better luck, this would have happened back in 2016, so it was a long time coming and we are very happy!
And yes, we are also delighted to have a new president!
An outstandingly fabulous pop-up Indian dinner for two made by our own Citrine (who I discovered lives down the road from us down towards Albuquerque) was thoroughly enjoyed by me and my guy! What a treat to look forward to!
That sounds nice! It brings a little normalcy back to your life.
I know there are those of us who really love year round sun and warmth and those of us who like where they live until it gets cold and then they are off to warmer climes.
Then there are those of us who love the change of seasons--even the snow and the cold and all the inconvenience that causes.
I am frankly surprised at how much I love winter up here. We had quite a bit of snow up here yesterday, made worse by the drifts caused by the lake winds. So we kept the "home fires burning." I went out just now to grab 3 more logs for the evening.
Maybe because I've been imprisoned this week doing interviews and powerpoint slides non-stop, I stepped outside and it was just so beautiful! In my pajamas and gardening gloves I walked around our wood shed and stepped out into such silence and solitude. The air was so crisp and light flurries of snow landed on my face. A beautiful moment.
Tomorrow I vow to take out my new snowshoes and get outside! Powerpoint be damned!

Catherine, that looks so beautiful and peaceful. Lovely!
Add in the sunshine sparkling on the fresh snow, winter is quite lovely. Glad that you are enjoying your winter there.
Though I live within city limits, I love getting out early on snowy mornings and hearing ... nothing, because the snow blankets the noise. Gotta have the seasons. And a three-foot frost line that kills spiders the size of softballs and snakes the lengths of cars.
Today I am happy because a relatively well known blogger, the Freckled Fox, has made it clear she’s getting a divorce. Her husband announced it today.
Instagram influencers are there in my mind to observe and snark on, but this girl has really had some hard stuff to deal with. She married very young, produced five children, and then her young husband died of cancer. Then she went off the rails and 84 days later married a loser. He shot her. He treated her children like crap.
It has taken her four years to wake up to his stupidity and kick him to the curb.
Wow.
Happy I got the X Country skis out and got to enjoy the snow for an hour:cool:
Today despite the cold, with no wind and the bright sunshine. it was a delight to walk my little beagle. I chatted with people all along my route who were enjoying the sunshine as much as I was. The longer daytime hours are so wonderful as well.
Our neighborhood Arts Council made an Art Heart
installation Saturday night. They placed hundreds of big red hearts on the spikes of our Victorian fence posts.

Delightful!
They'd be even more arty if they were upside-down...:~)
They look brave and jaunty against that snow.
Nice pick-me-up in a monochrome landscape...
We are above zero in temp and the sun is shining. We went for a walk for the first time in days. We were the only ones out walking because it was still quite cold... invigorating!!!
Sun is shining again today and we greeted neighbors (and their dogs). Life seems so much brighter. I definitely am NOT an introvert. This winter definitively proves it!
A neighbor I have only seen walking her dogs, yet she has bumperstickers I agree with and I told her so last week. Today with mask on she recognized me and said Hello. I have been here 1.5 years and really have not met anyone so it was nice.
Sun, sun, glorious sun. The sun rises early enough now I can see it on my commute and it was out today instead of snow, sleet and rain. The temperature will get into the 40's today, and should hit 50 Sunday so I can visit my parents then sitting in our respective cars with the windows rolled down and chatting after probably a month of not seeing them because it was just too cold. It is a nice foretaste of spring.
SUN here! Husband grilled barbeque chicken thighs! Yum and Joy!!!
Fun morning. Sunshine. Fabulous snowstorm for 15 minutes. Sunshine.
Wonderful weather here too. Went grocery and other shopping today. It is the first time I took my time and looked around. The stores were not busy and it was reminiscent of better times. Today is the anniversary of my retirement... 3,652 days so far!! It doesn’t seem possible!
25 minutes start to finish getting my second covid shot. I am so thankful we live a mile from the huge hospital complex and they are running a big clinic just for shots. Two initial check in lines, 6 check in desks, 6 stations with nurses to give shots, and an auditorium set up for social distancing with an enormous clock for the 15 minute timer. Employees assigned just to direct people to keep the line moving. Everyone was friendly. And best of all free attached parking.
Daffodil shoots are visible!!!
Even during our recent Arctic blast, the winter sun up here is so strong that it can start melting a thin layer of snow on an asphalt driveway. And cars parked outside can be surprisingly warm inside because of the low angle of the sun. It does belie expectations, but it works.
The non-profit that runs the local community center for the city is sponsoring a pop-up vaccine clinic there. 200 doses reserved for St. Paulites over 65. I saw the email and called within two hours and they still had a choice of appointments. My mom gets her first dose of the Moderna vaccine next week!
Steve, that's good to hear!
Great news Steve!!
I am very grateful for the ignore function on this forum. Without it, I would have left. Why is there always one that causes such distress? (although I have to be careful with those who quote the messages)
Primary goal for today was to complete the taxes for everyone that I do the taxes for. Mission accomplished!!! DONE!! Yay!
