Thank you, Razz and Happy Stuff. I am a fortunate woman.
Your garden sounds great!
I saw a red fox walking around my neighborhood today. Maybe it will keep down the population of critters eating gardens.
Living in the boonies like I do, I see all kinds of wildlife. Foxes, deer, possum, raccoons, etc. We have woods on two sides of our house so we get mostly deer in our yard. A couple of weekends ago, we had a buck and four does jump our fence and then take a rest in our backyard. I snapped a few pictures.
Lovely photos; thanks for sharing.
During my daily walks with my dog, I meet regulars who become friends. One such friend shared info about a dog comb called a 'furminator". She was so enthusiastic I looked on Amazon https://www.amazon.ca/FURminator-deS...%2C181&sr=8-17 and bought one. It is an amazing tool to reduce dog hair shedding. I was quite surprised at the amount of hair removed in two sessions. I spoke to another regular on my walk and he bought one 10 years ago when the price was much higher but raves about using it 4-5 times per week with their longhaired lab.
Cool Klunick.
Interesting,IL. We are trying to figure how and why this works so well but glad that it does. Is there more to this story that you may share?
I don’t know the story of how the FURminator came to be, I just know that the company got sold/left St. louis and the marketing Director went elsewhere to work, that’s how I know her.
I figured she had some unopened FURminators in her basement, so I asked her if she did and she brought me one. I usually am not forward like that, but I just thought hey let’s save myself 30 bucks if she has a large supply of them.
When my son gave me Noki he also sent a big metal tool that did a great job of taking off his fur. He also loved the feel of it and would sit patiently. Noki was husky/shepherd so was a giant shedding machine.
Finally ventured away from the local setting to see an outdoor play at the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake. It was warm , different venue but wonderful, the gardens throughout the downtown are beautiful as expected and I bought my first batch of fresh peaches and apricots at a farm stand. Perfect day!
I seldom wish I was very wealthy and a size 4, but I watched this Giorgio Armani collection from beginning to end, open mouthed. It is full of elegant gorgeous clothing for women of all ages. If you are 25 you can wear it. If you’re 85 you can wear it.They are feminine and eminently wearable. For these clothes I might become a Lady Who Lunches.
And I think they would all look good in a decade too although probably the pant length would be a problem.

It is best to watch the clothes as they move along the runway because they flow beautifully. But here is a slideshow if you don’t want to invest time watching a video.

Well, it was fun to look at the outfits. The fitted shoulder and loose pants are into fashion, it seems. I loved 4/69, thought 33/69 looked like a pot scrubber but 55/69 was a gorgeous gown.
Thanks for posting this, IL.
I'll watch the video when I have time, but I did scroll through the slideshow, and I think the looks were beautiful. On a personal level, I related most to the concepts with the jackets--for some reason I always gravitate to wearing blazers or cropped jackets or anything like that, so I think that that ones with a jacket particularly resonated.
IRL, I have tried to go "high fashion" a couple of times with horrible results. One time, at the Manchester VT outlets I bought an expensive Ellen Tracy skirt and embroidered jacket that I loved, and never wore it once. I wound up donating it to Goodwill. I have very, very simple preferences for myself in clothing, but that doesn't keep me from thinking more elaborate outfits aren't completely gorgeous on someone else. Simply put, I don't like drawing attention to myself, so I stick to solids and neutrals. I truly should have been a nun.
I liked it a lot as a collection, but wouldn't likely wear anything so formal. Number 38 stands out as a favorite.
In contrast to Catherine, I liked the loose, cropped pants best.
Yes, it was the fitted velvet jackets and loose pants that drew me i .
Jane, Heidi and Tim’s second season of Making the Cut dropped within the past couple of days.
I am currently addicted to a new guy who’s a younger version of Tim Gunn. His name is Daniel Hopwood and he’s an interior designer on the show the Great British Interior Design Show. He is swoon worthy, and is, I suppose, a gay man.
That show is wonderful because every one of the properties they fix up is architecturally interesting, and most of them are old or very very old. And yes they do the usual three day cheap ass fixes, but these designers put out some pretty interesting work I have to say. They do a lot of a lot with paint color and a little carpentry, with pine and MDF, and toss pillows.
I always prefer dressing up rooms to dressing up women, so I much prefer interior design shows but so many of them are so horrifically ugly they hurt my eyes.
Most of the episodes in the show respect the integrity of the hundred year old properties they work on, but I watched one show yesterday where they painted a 200 year old pine floor with gorgeous patina. Oy. I blame the homeowner who should’ve said STAAAAHP!!!! no do not do that.
Someone in Indy must have watched Trading Spaces years ago. When they posted pictures to sell their home, they had little balls glued in a grid all over the bathroom walls. How would you ever clean it?
That sounds like such a Hildy thing to do. I remember the straw glued to someone's dining room walls. YUCK.Quote:

Had new carpet installed 5 years ago and it is rolling in the middle. Had the president/owner of the company come out and inspect. He said he would get back to me. I have called and he ignores my calls. SO, not knowing what to do, called Menards and asked if they had people they know who restretch carpets. The flooring manager sent me a list of 3 people within a half hour. I called and the installer called me back and came out the same day with an estimate. One week later (today) it is DONE!!! The installer said it was not even tacked down and that is why it was rolling. The carpet now looks nice and lays flat. I am thrilled to have it OFF my list!!!
YaY, for skilled trades! They truly are a pleasure to deal with.
Yesterday before anyone else came in, my boss gave me my yearly evaluation. I had been told by others who had him as a boss to expect a less than stellar evaluation. Plus the fact that I figured I wasn't hiding my absolute disdain for him very well. Went into his office and he handed it to me. All Outstandings!! I was shocked. He had nothing but good things to say about me and how I helped me so much when he first came. How I work well with co-workers (2 of which I think are completely worthless and point it out to him all the time). Unfortunately I have been maxed out pay wise for years so no pay increase but at least I know that I hide my dislike for him well.
Congratulations Klunick. Maybe with the current wage inflation in the country they will find they need to lift the cap before too long. Are you a member of a union?
No, not in a union. I am a non-sworn employee at a Police Department. Only the sworn people have that sort of thing. Normally the only pay increase I would get was a cost of living increase but the City hasn't done that in a few years either. I heard a rumor that we might see a 1% increase. I also obtained a Professional Certificate by attending a 14 hour class and taking a 50 question test . My title went from Property Clerk to Property Specialist but even that didn't warrant anything except getting a free day off.
Congrats, Klunick! Even though I did well, I always hated the annual evaluations. All Outstanding is wonderful!!!!
Congrats K!!
To those folks out there ranting and raving over things they believe others are personally inconveniencing them about - irregardless of any consideration for those other people! Thanks for the giggle.
Happy my two babies (cats) were so well behaved at the vet. Went full feral on us trying to chase them and get them into the carriers and cried pretty much the entire way over but were quiet and well behaved once we got there and the entire way home.
I love it that DH's Bronco Sport is big enough for us to take yard waste to the dump! We got the $25 sticker that allows us access for the season. My town has very limited curbside pickup dates for yard waste, one in the spring and 3 in the fall, and you aren't supposed to include brush or branches. It is wonderful to be able to get rid of all this stuff soon after generating it, and not having to hold onto it for months. It's actually a town composting area, so that is a good thing too. Our yard is really too small to dedicate too much space to composting. So I get very excited about going to the dump on Saturday mornings!
Rosa yard waste pickup is the highlight of some of my weeks, but usually they don't do their job and I have to call and complain. They are blaming post-covid labor shortages but the problems predated covid.
I share your appreciation for waste pickup. I always feel so grateful when the garbage and recycling are picked up early once a week. They are a really good and conscientious crew. I often have garbage out just once a month and recycling even less than that. This year the garden waste was picked up every two weeks in spring season, once a month in summer and the fall cleanup will be every other week for 5 pickups. Waste disposal including sewage and clean water are my most treasured services of living in town compared to my farm life. Well, OK, the high speed internet going from dial-up in the rural area to 350kbps in town is another. These are all worthy of a 'rave'.
I dug up some glad bulbs when I left Michigan and threw them in a box in the barn. I planted them in my tiny garden here and they are doing beautifully, way better than they did there, for some reason!
My poor baby Boone must be annoyed with his sister and needs some alone time underneath my comforter. Man, I love this cat. Sweetest thing in the world but has Satan herself for a little sister.
