I get tired of supporting other people who are having problems, even if just by keeping in touch with them through facebook, and giving them good thoughts and encouragement. But dammit......nobody ever looks out for me. .....feeling sorry for myself today.
yes I hear you, I think when you come across as caring it means that you don't need anything. However I try to build mutually supportive deals I am not very good at, and I think people in general want to put us in a caretaker role or a needy person role instead of a real human role.
I really am mad at one of our parents, I am going to lose my mind. She is so sure her child is being bullied all the time, so she complained about him being in a group with another kid who has serious issues during the day. We do not have the same issues after school so I do not respond to things not happening. Today she came in and wondered if the groups had been changed and wondered why not and told my staff "I don't blame you that was Ms. Zoe Girl's job", yeah, I knew the other kid was not attending today and it was my staff's last day so I didn't change the groupings because it didn't matter. And now she says another kid is telling him mean things that none of us have ever heard, so he shouldn't be with her. He is going to be a 2nd grader with preschool and kindergarten kids all based on imaginary bullying.
I have a bad case of spring fever along with life disatisfication. There is not much to do at most times of the year in my area. So very bored!
Blech and pooey - lots of noise and bother on my day at home and it is too cold to go to the park!
CathyA, I love your nature photos!! They are so beautiful. Just wanted to let you know that!
Oh, that's really nice of you to say that Tybee. Thank you!
Gangs of kids age 14 and younger roaming the area drinking beer and vandalizing- Grr- and they did it last year too but police do nothing!
We have been plagued with groups of young teens robbIng, pointing guns, actually shooting someone with a small pellet gun, and etc.
When our neighborhood cracked down and really became active to combat it with citizen patrols and special meetings with cops and juvenile justice personnel, we learned how difficult it is to "do" something about badly behaved juveniles. The arrest process is cumbersome and it takes much time, and cops are off the street while they attend to the young perps. And then, when (if) they get into the system there are more hoops to jump through and all kinds of protections for them.
The juvenile justice system is just different from the other.
Our neighborhood's strongest tool has been to boot these kids' families out of public housing. We have to put pressure on the often useless public hous Ng management system to boot them, but it does happen. Their own rules call for that to happen. It is always a joy to make gubmnt institutions follow their own damn rules.
Indy is having a similiar problem. The latest story in the paper was about a teenage girl who was one actually shot with nonlethal rounds to get them to stop fighting. She admits she did not listen to the officers. At one point a shot was fired by one of the teenagers. We are having fights downtown on an almost nightly basis.
The teenager was arrested but even she said if they are released to their parents, nothing happens.
The saddest happening was when a 14 year old was killed by the security guard he tried to rob while holding a gun. The 29 year old with the 14 year old apparently gave him the gun due to lower chances of juvenile punishment by the courts.
My peeve for the day. So they advertise all these hands free devices as being good for the driver. Not so much if those you call can't hear you, and you having to repeatedly scream at the microphone, instead of pulling over and speaking into the phone, also distracts you and those on the other end can't hear to get your needs correct.
I agree, ToomuchStuff. I have a friend who would sometimes call me on her car phone if she was stuck somewhere on the roadway and just wanted to chat to pass the time. Not a good idea - too much road noise, static, or 'hold on a second I have to change lanes' etc. To me those devices are only good for a quick "I'm on my way" type call, not anything that's going to take longer than a minute or so.
On the flight coming home from vacation I sat next to a woman reading a book. I commented on the pretty bookmark she had and asked if she made it. She said yes and gave it to me!! She said she was addicted to crocheting and had many more. I, in turn, after talking awhile gave her a packet of Truvia since she had never tried it. We talked the entire flight and had a great time! A nice way to end the trip.
Staying at DD/SIL's for 2 weeks while they dawdle and play in St. Maarten. The kids are a dream, responsibly doing chores, homework, not fighting. But the DOGS--OMG! I just want to throttle one of them. They (the adult humans in the home) do not train them at all. They are constantly milling around underfoot while you are trying to make dinner. They try to lick the plates in the dishwasher while you are loading it (so apparently that's ok with adult children) AND I clean up at least 2 messes a day from the teenage dog! He can have just come in from outdoors and he'll pee a bucket-ful on the kitchen floor!!!!!! Aaaaaghhhhh!
There, that feels better.
Adding: She had better bring me something good from St. Maarten, not just a coffee mug from the airport like she did one other time. >:(
I suppose you could train the dogs - but great that the kids are well-behaved!
Want to sleep at 9 pm due to temperature dropping rapidly from very warm to very cold. If I go to bed too early, I will wake-up at 3 am!
people need to get more mature, like can I send the world to therapy!
My new staff is struggling but we had a long team meeting that helped a lot. However we have a kid with a challenging past of abuse and trauma. I was told his behavior concerns on day one since I talk to the psychologist all the time. So we have concerns, plans, supports. So staff freaks out and calls her coworker last night saying she thinks this 8 year old is going to bring a gun to school and kill her. OMG, In our meeting she didn't tell me this but she did say she was concerned because she didn't think we were doing anything. Doh! My staff caught the first signs of him appearing stressed, called me over, I took him with me and gave him space to play math dice games and he was fine. My primary staff and I have been doing this a long time, one kid we worked with over 4 years through a lot of ups and downs. Another I expelled after a lot of work. Don't play this middle school girl drama of calling all your coworkers instead of talking to your boss because you get nervous.
Exactly why I called a mandatory meeting to address everything and kept on going until she kept sharing and getting to the bottom of her concerns. I did not tell her the part about being the 13 year old girl drama in that way however. I could post in the work or happy that I faced conflict and called the meeting and pushed through awkwardness which I am very proud of for, and my long time staff for telling me what was going on and pushing to do this. Still had to vent this out a bit
Mother Nature - please make up your mind! Is it winter or spring? Warm enough to go to the park one day and snow on the ground the next day! Craziness!
My peeve is really a sort of WTF observation: the cost of sea scallops!!! Oh me!
I never ever EVER buy scallops, let alone fresh seas scallops. But pursuing a lower calorie diet, I thought they would make a nice change from the usual. I paid $27 per pound!!!e Bought a half pound. And they were largely tasteless.
I am gobsmacked that average people actually buy these things.
A second rant, breaking the rules I am. I am utterly sick and tired of the new look in home decor which is reclaimed grey wood/subway tile/everythng else white or a greyish blue. As for home decor accent junk, I will report from the suburban box stores to say that this year elephants are in. And we still have the trend of giant letters from last year, but elephants are where it is at.
I was tired of Moorish tiles/lattice as soon as I saw them, and all I think of when I see subway tiles is grout. And urinals. Gray is fine if everyone and their cousin isn't decorating with it, which they are. I like puce and chartreuse. And taupe and watermelon. And if I ever have a Home, I'm planning to use that combination. Let's hope it doesn't become the decorating fad du jour.
Our common areas are light grey and a darker shade. It was that or beige which I've had enough of. So we compromised. I like the darker grey but don't care for the light. I like real color like you, Jane. My house had a ton of color.
my peeve is I lost my notebook I kept for taxes with all my 72 MD appts co-pays, drugs, 2 surgeries, medical mileage, etc. I looked everywhere, I might have left it at an MD appt. I'm taking the standard deduction and trying to put this huge mistake behind me. I have got to tame the paper tiger. No more excuses.
One day without sunshine and I feel so! lethargic!
I wonder whatever happened to Jemima, who started this thread?
I am not going to do much posting tonight, or I might get myself banned for language. I am barely able to censor myself now, due to my rant/anger/blood pressure, due to THIEVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've dealt with rapists, murderers, at least a couple pedophiles, and some other stuff, but the above is what gets my blood BOILING!
So, the underage neighborhood sociopaths get away with it again! Good golly - as soon as they are 18 it will get worse and everyone will wonder why they have to go to prison.
Lost my only decent pair of gloves. My life will be a lot simpler when spring fully arrives and I don't have so many layers to add and shed during the day. But there is a nor'easter predicted for next week. I am tired of winter.
Back to winter - sigh, but at least it was sunny today!
Two rants today, again ndt the rule of ranting but so what:
1) I hate the fussy details and hours it is taking for us to put financial imstikents into our trust. Each financial institutin requires somethng different. One of them refuses to accept contingent beneficiaries without their corresponding social security numbers. No, I am not asking for SSNs and tax IDS for the dozen or so contingient beneficiaries
2) new foster dog, cute as a bug, has balls, very humpy. Hump, hump, hump all day long. We all want to bite him, but Lily Bean who is on the receiving end of most of the humping is the one who should be exerting discipline.
Hubby got reamed at work yesterday by a dock worker (female) who got right in his face, telling him (loudly) that he was too early, get out of the warehouse, he's banned, never come back. There were other vendors standing around waiting in the rain, too.
They've figured out that the store had not moved their clocks up (her responsibility) and he was there at the normal time he always was. She has not apologized (probably won't), and his employer is not being supportive, but telling him to just forget about it.
The poor guy didn't sleep all night.
That is terrible. The customer is not always right.
Hubs actually got written up for it---said the woman told them she didn't like his attitude. Well, he had been waiting for about 40 minutes in the rain, only to be yelled at in his face. It was only at that point that he said anything.
Employer did not ask for any feedback from the witness/coworker. Just told DH to suck it up and forget about it. Just do your job.
Toomuchstuff if they are vendors then the woman is a customer.
The same sort of thing happened to me, only in my case it was a coworker who the boss let unleash a reign of terror and error. Life is not fair.

Today my rant is bait and switch. Advertise a position as full time, call applicants for a working interview, once they arrive tell them it will only be full time for 3 weeks until your backlog is caught up, then it will be 8 hours a week, but maybe we will have more work down the road so while you are here we want to assess your phone skills. Please spend the next 4 hours making reminder calls to all the customers on this list. I passed.
