Okay---Got some good news. You kids will like it, I'm sure. At the fairgrounds this coming weekend, guess what they are having? Nooooo,it's not a livestock show or rodeo. Nope. It's not some 80-year old Rock Idol, either. Nope. What is is, is the annual Friends Of The Lirrrarrary Book Sale. It lasts 3 or 4 days! Well, the first day is like--full price or whatever, for people with privilege, but then the prices decrease each day until the last day when---are you ready--you can get a grocery sack of books for only $5!!! 5!! Yup. But see---what my strategy will be is to let the "Cool People" who read novels and other trash go in there, and cherry-pick all the novels and fiction. And then---near the end of the sale, I will swoop in there and get books about stuff---very important TRUE stuff---that I like to read about. See? What do you think of that? Right now, I'm going to see if I can borrow the Aldi's sack I bought for my catts, to use at the book sale, if the lirrrereary doesn't provide them. Hope that helps you some. Thankk Mee.

Wow, so I must finally be considered "cool" because I prefer fiction. I wanted to be cool when I was in HS, and look how long it took me to get here! Good for mee! :laff:
On another noter note, do you build bicycles to sell them, or do you just keep/collect them?
-
Well, ahem--See, there is a definition of "cool people" that has not yet gotten an entry in Merryam-Webturs. Nope. It does have an entry in the littlebittybobby book of jargon & euphemisms, though. It has more to do with prestige and consumption and doing what "they"(the other normies) do, than anything. Even if it's dumb. Any more--I lump books that boast of making the nyt best-seller list into the same category as academy award winning mooo-veees and emmy award winning teee vee and of course Grammy award winning music. Whats-his-face Kanye has been awarded about as many grammys as anyone alive! Ha. Or Nobel Peace Prizes-- If yer the Presy-dent of some nation or another, and you DON'T invade another country, you might very well be awarded a No-belPeace Prize! Ha. But anyway---if you read what THEY read, why---your one of THEM! You have,what THEY have, you're one of THEM. See? So, yah---don't take it too personally, one way or the other, RR. Not that your not cool, by other standards.. Hope that helps you some. Thankk Mee.

Okay---one other quession---Do I fix 'em up n sell 'em? Well, no. Those bikes are like my littlebittykittens; they are a labor-of-love, and custom-built to suit mee. See--most bikes won't fit most people. Nope. Ya gotta pay extra for "bike fitting", if you are going toride very far. That said, in the early 80's,I bought a new, off the showroom $159 Schwinn Varsity--which was a VERY obsolete design, at the time, and rode it quite a ways. Ha. How I did it,I don't know! I stillhave that bike, and even refurbished it with some upgrades, 8 or 9 years ago. But, I sure don't ride it. Ha. It doesn't fit right. Nope. But,I won't sell it, either. Not right now. I do have a F-book friend who restores 80's mountain bikes for street use, in Dallas, as a post-retirement, for-profit occupation. But, not mee. Bikes, are considered VERY consumeristic & disposable. But, the designers in Japan evidently didn't intend that, initially. Bike components have a high degree of standardization,which allows for repair & upgrades. But, cool people don't care. They want a NEW bike, that looks trendy.
Though the type of bikes I own do have a following among a small group of purists, hot-rodded bikes like mine fill an even smaller niche. At least--around here. At any group ride, I always have the oldest bike. Except one time--maybe 7 years ago--a rider my age who showed up riding an 87 Schwinn Voyager, which is a variation of my Packard bike. But, that guy has other bikes. But yeah---the core group of cyclists are people who don't fool with mechanical stuff,for fun. They are consumers, usually well-paid consumers,who just like to ride. So, they trade-up for NEW,rather than fix-up. So, the demand for used bikes like mine is very minimal. But, here's the saving--I have a customized road bike that fits, with mostly-new components, for waaaay under $1000. See? Hope that helps you some.

Cool People have to have an EBike. It is the latest consumer bike! No fitness required. Riding one is something to "do", not an accomplishment. Next: Self-lifting barbells, Electric baseball bats(so EVERY player can hit home runs), EBasketballs, that guide themselves through the hoops, and so on. Hey--how about an ETram up Mt Everest? All in the name of inclusiveness & thus,Social Justice & Equality. Thankk Mee.

Attachment 4437Okay---Here's a photo of a "Story County Whoa Boy", which is more lbb jargon for a pickup that back in the day, Cool People in Ames, I-wah would "trade for"(more lbb jargon for get screwed), even though any farmer or tradesman would view this truck as being very absurd & impractical. But, yeah---it was Cool. See?

Okay----What I did today was continue finding & cleaning and organizing the parts for my 1969 Chevy transmission, that I've had just a few months short of 40 years. Yup---that transmission has just been sitting out back, taking up space, adding to the clutter, for nearly 40 years! It weighs about 90 pounds, too. So, it takes effort to move it around, when you need to. I decided to use it in my 66 Chevelle, years ago. So, prolly two years ago, I disassembled it, just to check it out, and guess what? It is in pretty good shape, but I decided to change out the bearings,seals, and tailshaft bushing, just for good measure. Plus, clean everything up. But,see---I started to reassemble it, but had to switch to another serious project, so the transmission parts all got put in boxes and bags, here in the garage. That's a formula for a failed project,a basketcase job. Yup. But, I finally got everything back to gether, okay? Got a bench cleared off, and parts laid out, and rounding up a few minor bits n pieces n hardware. Yup. A how-to book arrived in the mail, today, As-if, I really need it. Ha. Well, maybe. I figure if I review it this evening and learn just one or two ittybitty useful factoids, that will make it worthwhile. Compared to todays gearboxes--a 69 Chevy 4 speed is VERY simple! I also had purchased a new bearing retainer, and the dealy-bobbers with the springy-things, that help it shift. Plus, a cool shift knob. Yup. Hope that helps you kids. Thankk Mee.

Okay---I just hope maybe that guy Elon Musk(sounds like a $10 cologne) would get the idea in his head that he'd really like to be the first Human Being to set foot on Pluto, and devote all his resources to that goal. Yup. "One small step for a man; one giant leap for mankind" Yup.

A $10 cologne - you are so right! :laff::laff::laff:
