Ugh. That’s so sad to hear.
My peeve today. Internet at work went down more than an hour ago. I sit right by the server room. Appears to be something with power to the servers. No email, no internet, no phones. Nice and quiet! LOL. I have little to do without system. At least I got here early enough to get daily import duty report done and payments authorized before system web down. Went through the shipment report and wrote up files for upcoming shipments I’d not done yet, but I can’t enter them on the customs side as system down. One of the owners had to go home (he lives close) for a Zoom call.
Finally back up after 2.5 hours. Turned out to be an issue with the panel the servers were plugged into.
Klunick, I am so sorry about your co-worker/friend. That is hard to deal with, how poorly our world treats our elders and our veterans.
I like to think he is in a much cooler Villages right now--that is my personal hope and faith, prayers for him!
I think Tradd is correct. He wasn't mistreated by society in the least. He had a career that he loved and that allowed him to keep working into his 80's. No one tossed him aside when he got to a certain age. Not positive about his income but he was making well over $100,000 from the job plus everything he was receiving from his military career retirement. Husband said that most of the talk yesterday was directed squarely at the wife. How selfish she was for not telling her husband to stop working and enjoy his life. She was more concerned about her family in SC than her husband to the point of choosing to go see her parents when her husband was having open heart surgery a few years ago and it was very likely he could have died then. The point of contention with the wife is that her husband was so concerned about how she'd be after his death that he literally worked until his death. The wife has gotten to do whatever she wanted when she wanted and it was paid for by someone else. The husband didn't get to do what he wanted (retire and move to Florida) and was more concerned about her than himself. Just seems so unfair.
People need to stop dying. I am over it! Friends, cut it out!!!
yes, it is all about me. :)
