Oh my! That would be so horrifying to be surprised by that! It reminds me of a mouse story I've heard from a friend out here in the desert that involved a mouse trapped in a car and a can of coke (I won't go into the particulars because it is truly gross)! But I think laughter often accompanies horror like that; plus these things do make great stories after the fact.
Ugh.

I love my K. dearly and the fact that he will readily do the dishes without being asked but just had to show off an example of his "Dishwashing Jenga Skills Du Jour." It is actually very difficult for me to untangle all of this without sending the clean silverware clattering to the floor. Also, at some point during dishwashing job he completely zones out and wanders away, as evidenced by the remaining silverware and salad bowl sitting in the dirty water on the washing side of the sink.
Having dirty gunk left like that overnight used to really skeeve me out but I have learned to let go and it doesn't bother me nearly as much. I will take care of everything in the morning since I have the time these days. House stuff just isn't in his daily wheelhouse but he takes up the slack in many, many other ways - I think we get along so well because we are such complete opposites in so many respects that when all blended together stuff gets done, one way or another.
My goal this morning is to see if I can extract all the silverware to put away in the drawer without dropping any...
That's hilarious, SiouzQ! I love what you said about getting along well because you and K. are complete opposites. I have found the same with my DH. And do relate to the Dishwashing Jenga! But my peeve is that I like to eat early and do the dishes early. But we eat late and I get too tired to do the dishes and even if I do them, DH comes in and snacks heavily! Like a burger at midnight. So I still have greasy stuff to wake up to which is demoralizing if I think the kitchen is tidy and it will be that way when I wake up. Not so.
We’ve paid an obscene amount of money to have landscapers do the front of our house. I’m a plant person as you know. I had very specific requests for certain plants.
I want a particular pink Rose and I specified it. I was 80% sure that I wouldn’t get that, that the landscaper would substitute. the typical Knockout apricot rose. Sure enough, the crew showed up with that typical Rose that’s not what I want. OK whatever, I will order the roses I want and plant them myself.
fortunately, they showed up with the right hydrangea because I was picky about that as well.
unfortunately, they’re working from the first draft of the landscape plan, so they loaded a whole bunch of limestone on the truck that was unneeded. They also didn’t realize that they were only doing half of the job today.
I have an out of the ordinary DH who loves to research recipes and cook dinner every night from scratch. So...he cooks, I clean.
When I win the lottery I’m hiring a cook. I would hire a cook before moving to a different house. I’m so tired of the boring things I cook.Quote:
