It's raining, it's pouring!
You CAN make steel cut oats in a rice cooker! In my anti-stuff zeal over the years, I had dismissed the very idea of a rice cooker as just one more thing to clutter up the kitchen counters, but since my house mate has one, I can totally see how awesomely useful this little appliance can be for not very much money :) When the day comes that he moves out, I am getting one of my own, for sure!
I hate cooking but I love my rice cooker. Not only can I cook rice without it getting mushy, but I chop up a potato and put it in liquid in the bottom part and then put a frozen salmon or tilapia fillet with some chopped up vegetables on top, turn on the rice cooker for 40 minutes and everything comes out perfectly. I've even made "boiled" eggs by steaming them in the steamer tray. There is practically nothing you can't make in those things. :)
It sounds faster than a crock pot, so beneficial for quicker meals.
I used my rice cooker a lot when I had it. I steamed veggies nearly every day. Now I have an Instant Pot I use that every day.
Electric blankets are so cozy.
Raked up all the leaves onto the lawn and ran the mower over them to mulch. 12 barrels of oak leaves, and they all just kind of disappeared, shredding down and creating new soil.
My first year with a true autumn...this was an extremely satisfying activity.
Clean sidewalk, driveway, and my lawn is put to bed for the winter.
Snow! 8-10" and still falling.
It's been a long time since my last snowstorm - so beautiful :)
Went to the BEST ever cookie exchange. Will get copies of the cookie recipes later but they ALL were wonderful (which is not always the case). DH wants cookies and I have no desire to make umpteen kinds so this was wonderful. Enough for the two of us for quite a while. WIN!!
