Ok---they had a lb o' ground beef, marked down for quick sale, at the place where the po' fokes shop. So yeah---I got it, split it in half, and microwaved half just enough, and poured it on the catts dry food. Did the same the nex day, with the other half. I did feed a couple of the old old ones in cat carriers, cause they don't eat as fast. So anyway---they liked it. Yes, I know; there's tons o' cautionary tales on the net, about feeding cats anything but REAL catt food, Yummie Nibbles or whatever @$3 a can, recommended by veteranarians everywhere! We all know that Vetttanarians LOVE animals----that's why they became vettanerrians, right?. Ha. Well, those catts o' mine glared at me and proceeded to eat their people food, wondering why I did not buy them some REAL catt food, recommended by vetttanarryans. Anyway---hope that helps you kids some.
Okay---TYVM, Lady Jane, for your input on the subjecct. Tonight, the doggs had hott doggs, cut upp, and macaroni w/vegetable oil, steada cheese, on their dry food. Like the catts, they wonder why I'm not feeding them food "recommended by 99.99% of Vetttanarians, who love animals!". But yeah---they eat it all up, before the possums attempt to get it. But yeah---'Possums are exempt from Vettanarian recommendations, 100%. Yup. Hope that helps you some.
If you had the opportunity to observe my bulldog who enthusiastically greets his twice daily meal of exactly the same thing, dried food, you would not be so dismissive of it. He loves it and is always excited about meal time And when he gets little extra treats of people food, he’s over the moon happy. “Chimken” is his favorite people treat.
My tiny cat is a chow hound and does not get fat but hangs around the kitchen counters for people food and as result she does get more than the other cat who is much better behaved.
Egg salad tonight.
Okay-----This product looks yummy as well as delish. Yup. But yeah---it's sold by case of 12 cans. Attachment 5504
Many decades ago DH worked for company that made Friskies cat food. He knew about palatability testing, although they did not conduct that at his food plant.
The guys in quality control would play a joke on visitors to the plant. They would have a pre-marked can of tuna on the assembly line, marked in a way known only to them. They would pick it off assembly line in front of the tour group, open it, and remark how good the product was, and then he would eat some of it.
Slimy, white goop—that’s what we had for dinner the other night. It was “Alfredo sauce “out of a jar. I don’t know why I buy that stuff, I guess because I was hungry and in a weak moment, and I keep thinking about restaurant prepared meals, but this is not it. I’m not a good cook, but even I can make a pasta sauce that passes as “Alfredo “that’s so much better than the salty tasteless junk in a jar.
I may feed the rest of it to our dog.
Okay----Ritz Crackers. Yup. Okay---I did open up two cans o' catt food, today(a large one and a small one), and I'll tell ya why. Itsta give two o' the catts a high-dollar pill that I give once a month during flea season. In fact, you can not only split a 1-pill dose for one catt between TWO catts, but you can do the rest o' the cats, while you're at it. But yeah---one pill, as prescribed for one catt, is overkill. What I do is crush the pill up in a bowl and mix it up with canned food VERY thoroughly, along with a couple other secret ingredients from the farm supply store. So anyway---I let the two catts that really need the stuff eat their fill, first. Then, let the other cats finish the recipe off, which they do. But see---today, one o' the two catts was being stubborn about eating any o' the doctored food. What I was forced to do was put food in a crate & lock her in it, till she ate it. It took awhile, but it worked. Yup. Now, part B is to apply the topical junk on them. There is one a my cats---Teen Mom or aka Tailer Swift, who does NOT like topical, and if she even sees the applicator, she will run and hide---even for hours. So, it takes strategy, part of which is to sneak up on her and do her first, while she's unaware. Yup. See? Hope thatt helps you some. Thankk Mee.
The packet fettuccine alfredo is actually good. It does not have all the garbage ingredients either. We have that on occasion with seafood...
Okay---Had ritz crackers for appetizer, went and gave the doggs their Hog Medication on bread. They wolfed it down. Then, had a can o' Cammmells Spaggetti, w/o meatballs, right out o' the can, no heat. Yeah, it mighta been better with alfredo sauce, but I don't know. Thing is---the catts gather round for summa this Cammmalls' spagetti, so yeah--I give 'em some. There is no doubt in my mind that this kind of food for elderly shut-ins with pets is extensively tested for "Palllllativity" or whatever, so pets will eat it, too. Yup. But yeah---it's just as well; no need for mee to eat a whole can. Hope that helps you some. Thank mee.
We had some frozen in-the-shell shrimp, which I thawed and peeled. Stuck them on skewers with pineapple chunks, red onion, red bell pepper. Under the broiler. Served on buckwheat noodles I had. Plus salad. Easy and from what I had on hand.
edited to add "bell"

Okay---I'll tell ya what's NOT fer dinner. See photo. But yeah---you kids consider it yummy and a delicacy, but I simply refuse to eat chickens. Nope.Attachment 5553Attachment 5553Attachment 5553
Hamburger patties with a side of salmon, because I'm a masochist. I don't like most fish, but it's supposed to be good for me. Bleahh.
Shredded bbq chicken on rolls with french fries.
Lo mein being made by child who is testing out a recipe. I don't mind being a guinea pig if someone else is cooking!!! lol
I'm curious as to why you don't eat chicken, bobby. in any case, you might enjoy this old SNL bit

Okay---Mondy Brunch. Crunchy Granola Raisin Bran, and a Banana, ripened the zact amount. But yeah--no chickkins were harmed. Hope that helps you some.
I used peaches from our tree and local blueberries to make a little dessert. A cookie concoction with a bit of sugar piled onto crescent rolls. It wasn’t bad.
DH made a yummy oatmeal crisp with strawberries and rhubarb from the neighbor's garden.
Tomorrow we have a few friends coming over for the holiday. So has got it in his head that we should serve an appetizer of poke’ since we’ve really become fans of the $6.99 box of poke’ cubes they sell at Safeway. But now a new twist. He’s been testing recipes for rice waffles today with plans of serving the poke’ on them instead of plain rice. I think his third try is a winner so hopefully our friends won’t leave and get in the car asking each other ‘WTF was that…’.
OK, jp, we need to hear how it goes tomorrow! :D
It’s been so hot and humid here I’ve not felt like cooking at all. Dinner has been two pouches of tuna made into tuna salad with the addition of a bit of Miracle Whip and pickle relish. Found some whole grain organic cracker that are fabulous. That makes a very satisfying dinner.
The rice waffles were super fun! Imagine a somewhat crispy waffle that tastes like fried rice with tamari and scallions. Definitely made the poke' more interesting than just plain rice like we usually do. And our friends really liked it since it was new and interesting. The interesting bit is that SO and I had both all of a sudden had multiple random posts about the idea on facebook in our feeds. None of the recipes called for an egg, which proved crucial to getting the waffles to not completely fall apart. This will definitely be a keeper in my mental recipe file of easy dinner ideas.
Tonight SO has bowling league so I'm making myself a bean burrito with chipotle peppers. (SO hates beans so this is my one night/week to eat them.)
Japanese curry chicken with onions and garlic over ramen noodles. A nice change.
Chicken, peas and noodles in chicken broth.
