Homemade pizza and it turned out decently.
Barbequed chicken! All done and ready for the week!!! Husband came up with an easier way to baste it, so it took him less time than usual. He's been barbequing chicken for 45 years and just thought this morning of dipping it in the sauce in a dish rather than using a brush!! Never too old to learn.
Got beef shwarma and yellow rice from my favorite Middle Eastern place. It's about $20, but I don't get it as often as I used to.
Newman's Own Frozen Pizza. Still not adjusted to new work hours and am very tired. Did manage to go grocery shopping after work, but definitely NOT making dinner beyond frozen pizza.
Chicken wings and a beet salad.
I usually make a pot of some kind of soup or stew over the weekend and eat on it throughout the week, either for lunches or dinners. Last night was curried lentil soup with kale and brown rice. It's almost gone, and I'm not quite sure what I'll make next.
I think I'm going to do pizza tonight. Not sure, though. LOL.
Pizza sounds yummy. If only I lived in Guatemala, where this pizzeria is located. but yeah---authentic guatemalan pizza, baked in a volcanic-vent fired oven. yup.(see photo)Attachment 5947
Tonight is lobster risotto using parmesan rind broth. A friend found the recipe for the broth. We’ll see if it’s any good.
we had beet salad tonight, baby beets from the garden. I cooked them, sliced them and put freshly harvested white onion, sliced thin with them and mix in a vinegar and oil salad dressing.
Tonight was garlic chicken and rice. Wapo suggested it and since we had leftover rice that needed to be used…. It was easy. And reasonably tasty. Would do it again when we have rice that needs to be used but it wasn’t the best thing I’ve ever made.
Not sure what we’ll do tomorrow. We normally go out on Fridays to celebrate a week survived. SO suggested the new BBQ place in town that we like but they seem to be permanently closed…
Happy: We use these: https://lovebeets.com/ A salad with beets and goat cheese is a great combination of flavors.
JP: That's too bad about your BBQ place. We had always wished for an Indian restaurant to open near us. One opened late last year right in our town. We tried it and it was great, but then they closed, supposedly temporarily, due to owner's health issues (at least that's what I heard). They are still closed, and I don't know it they'll ever re-open. I almost feel like the restaurant was a dream I had or something. At least I'm no longer getting Facebook ads for them, which felt like I was being teased.
Yeah, I'm kind of surprised they closed. The five or six time we went the year they were open it was always packed and the food and service were always good. I was especially inclined to like them because they gave me two Racer 5 pint glasses. There were 9 of them on a shelf behind the bar and I half jokingly asked the bartender if she'd sell me a couple. She said "I'll give them all to you if you want them." I took two. There was another BBQ place where the ambiance was not fancy but the food was pretty spectacular but they also closed. That wasn't as surprising since the place was never especially busy when we were there. Apparently it's tough to make a living running a BBQ place in Marin County. We're going to try a Chinese place we've not tried before.
Regarding Indian food SO is not especially a fan so we never go and rarely make it at home. I wish he liked it more because I really love it. There are two Indian places in town but I've never been to either one.
Thanks again for the beet info. Have been thinking of eating more but just not sure how.
Today will be lunch/dinner out to celebrate what would have been my child's 31st birthday. Something close and not too expensive - maybe Chinese buffet.
DH made a Thai-Vietnamese style salad with cabbage, mint, basil, garlic, shredded chicken and a spicy chili garlic sauce. Sliced oranges to calm the heat.
okay-----i had all-ya-can-eat prime rib at a chain restaurant out of idaohiwa called "Meat Pit". but yeah---there's one near me, but sense i wanted ta carry on the All-American turdition of drive-n-eat in my new monster truck, i went to a store 50 miles away. great way to get out and get some miles in! yup. so, anyway---didn't have no salad or anya that crap---just pure 100% usda red meat! Tonight is going to be chicken stroganoff. I need to use up the last of the homemade sour cream.
Back to easy - lentil and brown rice bake.
Friend dropped off some beets, so I'm planning on making some beet salad in the next day or so!
spaghetti with Paul Newman's tomato basil sauce. Very tasty.
okay-----taters. them there taters is good eatin'
Two racks of ribs have been in the smoker for about 6 hours, I'll be taking them out in an hour or so, baked beans and potato salad to go along with them. It's 85* and sunny so we've been floating in the pool all day, only getting out to spritz the ribs with a mixture of apple juice and butter. The smell has had my stomach rumbling for the past couple of hours.
Soba noodles with Bolognese sauce. I do have some potato salad chilling in the fridge for tomorrow.
Egg noodles with green peas
On the road in bf egypt so some very mediocre frozen dinners from Walmart which I hope to never have to eat again.
Pasta with diced sausage and roasted cauliflower. Needed to use up some stuff in the fridge and freezer. LOL
Chicken wings. SO bought a mega family pack of them a couple weeks ago frozen and is becoming an expert on cooking them just right.
Pork roll, egg and cheese on a toasted bagel. Was grocery shopping after 10 hour work day and wanted something easy. lol
Finally getting a chance to catch up with youngest child and their SO tonight for dinner. Looks like it will be Korea bbq. Yum!
ETA: Dinner was wonderul! Can't believe how much of a carnivore I was, but that IS what bbq is. LOL.
Tacos with homemade sourdough tortillas, lettuce and tomatoes from the garden and cheese.
Today is a crock pot roast chicken. Put about half a bulb of garlic under the skin of the chicken. Colorful potatoes and carrots cooking with the chicken. Started it around 3:00. Hopefully it’ll be ready by 6:30 or 7:00. After in the week we’ll use the leftovers for chicken quesadillas.
jp, that does sound really good!
I made a crockpot full of a chicken potato and carrot soup. It’s not very good really. But it will feed DH for several lunches.
