Very Important Subjects

Okay---I tell you what---if you are a concertgoer, wasting monney on tickicks, plus you like the music of Fleetwooid Mac during their Buckingham-Nicks phase, there is a solution. There is a "tribute band" out of England, endorsed by Mick Fleetwood, called " Rumours of Fleetwood Mac." Well, their concerts are(supposedly) note-for-note renditions of the recorded music of Fleetwood Mac. I've reviewed them on youtube. Yup. I read that they were touring the USA, lately. But no, I won't go. Sorry. Hope that helps you some. Yup. Thankk Mee.

The. most money I ever spent on a concert was $750 for a pair of tickets to see Paul McCartney on tour. Frankly, while I thought this was the outrageous splurge of a lifetime, a lot of my friends shrugged their shoulders at it. Diehard concert goers do pay a LOT more than $750 once in a lifetime. But as for the cover bands--my thoughts on those mirror my thoughts about fat-free ice cream. I'd rather have a melon ball size of full-fat, full-sugar ice cream once a week than a big bowl of "healthy" ice cream every day.

So, I'll take a once-in-a-lifetiime chance to see the Real Deal than 10 concerts by a cover band. That being said, I've never gone to another concert since McCartney's 2005 "US" tour.

Yup. Thanks for your Confession, Cath. 3 Hail Marys should suffice. People will pay BIG money to see ol' Carts in a concert. One o' my f-book friends in western Washington just went to one. But yeah---not my cup o' tea. I guess they gain prestige, as though it represented a big accomplishment, on their part. Ha. But yeah---I like good cover bands. One on youtube is Nashville-based "Foxes and Fossils". They sing a variety of pop tunes, including F-M's "Landslide", which is one by Stevie Nicks. Another video of Foxes... is their rendition of "When You Say Nothing At All", a Keith Whitley song. Good, real good. Then, there's the "Lexington Lab Band", primarily of 70's Southern rock, but spot-on cover(s) of the pnw band Heart. Hope that helps you kids some. While we're on the subject of old Beatpools, I do enjoy seeing videos of The Rutles, which parodies the mop-topped foursome. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Ha. Good clean fun. But yeah---I enjoyed the early Beatpools; the later beatpools, not as much. The long and winding hey lady jude madonna is VERY long and winding, unlike their clever ditties from early on. Yup. The attraction of big arena events, whether it's music or sports or what ever are a mystery to me regardless of the cost. I know a woman who recently paid well over a thousand for up from tickets to see the Stones, which seemed slightly criminal to frugal me, but a relatively small amount for what I understand good super bowl tickets go for.

I still can't wrap my mind around the Ticketmaster/Taylor Swift fiasco.. where some people were willing to pay $20,000 for a ticket!!! I wouldn't pay that amount for any rock stoar--not even to pay Paul McCartney to be my escort for the night!

I guess charging outrageous prices for concert tickets weeds out the wheat from the chaff. This chaff wouldn't pay those prices. Who gets all that dough? You wouldn't think millionaires like Mick Jagger would even notice ticket revenue. Maybe I'm wrong.

The best concert I've been to in years was about 5 years ago at our county fair. Los Lonely Boys played for about 90 min. the best rock you could get for the price of fair admission. If they are ever in your area (they're out of TX and mostly play there, but do tour some) I highly recommend going to hear them.

I would’ve paid $1000 per seat for the last Stones tour. They started the tour in St. Louis. The reason I didn’t go was I considered that a Covid super spreader.

Well, for the record, the exact cost was $1600. and she went solo. She said that there were some rude people issues with the folks around her, but she didn't complain too much. I suppose some of the excitement for those large events might come from the crowds enthusiasm. I almost got tickets for Van Morrison at Red Rocks a few years ago for a couple of hundred dollars, but they sold out quickly. That's about the most I've ever considered for a music event, and you'd have to pay me to go to a pro football game.

It is fun to compare notes with people who went to big concerts in their younger days back in the 70's and their experiences, at least for those that remember them. Could be that live music was better then:-)

Now, I'd consider season tickets for the local symphony if covid, the drive, and parking were not such an ordeal.

Jagger is a businessman In addition to being magic on stage. I’ve heard stories that he makes queries why the upper bleachers aren’t sold out And who dropped the ball on that.

well I guess he probably has a lot of kids to support. Probably could've picked some other random rock star.
