Well, okay---I been busy with my projects. But, last week I started a side project, to dispose of some worn-out tires. See--the tire shops now want $5 to take them. Plus--a fee if you also want them dismounted from rims. So anyway---I've taken some to the tyre shop for dismounts; got another load to go. Some that were already dismounted I used a sawzall to cut the sidewalls out on both sides. a few I'm going to use as pallets I cut obne sidewall out. See---that keeps them from accumulating water. Also, in order to placve tires in the trash cart, they must have the sidewalls cut out, and I like to cut the tread across in one place, as well, because it fits better in the trash carts. Yup. Sad to say I missed church andf the games and of course--to drive-n-eat, like summa Those People like to do. Anyway, hope that helps you some.

Okay---Taking a littlebitty survey, here. How manya you kids like Paula Broadwell? I know I do; she seems like a fun sorta gal, vivacious & fit, outdoorsy, and all that kinda stuff. I just read that she's divorced, now. I'd like to hang out with her. Yup. But yeah---she prolly thinks she's too young for mee. Ha. Okay---last night, I dozed off, while listening to Capital Childrens choir & reading about hizzzoner, da mayor, and realized at 2 am that I did not set the trash cart by the curb, OR fill it with cut-up tyres, beforehand. So there I was, out there at 2 am, putting cut-up tires in the cart and pulling it out front as QUIETLY as I could. Those plastic trash carts sound like a Bass drum, being pulled empty, if you don't use careful. But yeah---the trash company came by at 5:52 AM, and dumped it, for me. So anyway--Next week, I should have the rest of them disposed of. Yup.

Okay---I just know you kids wonder what I;'m gonna do with the moo-lah I saved, cutting up old tires and putting them in the trash. Will it be yummy restaurant meals? Concert tickkicks to see Hermans' Hermitts? Trips to places our ancestore emigrated from, to get away from poverty and oppression? Nope. But yeah---the answer is Bike Parts. Yup. My low-budget restoration of that flea market steel-frame road bike, to be exact. One set of used handle bars; one used crankset; one bent-up blackburn rear rack. Then, new bar tape, new downtube cable stops, new 8-speed freewheel, all from ebay. Then from my personal warehouse of surblus parts: used bar-end shift levers, used quill stem; slightly-used chain; cable housings for shift levers; brake levers;used tires(Continental Gatorskins), misc other stuff. But yeah--it's coming along nicely. Bike parts--even used---have increased greately in the last few years. So, it's all a good investment. Compared to drive-n-eat, anyway.

I had never heard of Paula Broadwell before, so I am neutral.
I guess we all have our gazingus pins, and yours are bike parts. It's currently pottery tools for me, and plants will likely move into first place in another month or so.

Good, good. TYVM, RR. Pottery tools are a VERY good investment, compared to buying concert ticckkicks to see the touring Supergroup made up of the sole surviving members of the Monkees & the Bee Gees and Lynyrd Skynyd. Yup. While we are on that subject---I'm shopping online for an amateur-grade bicycle wheel dish gage. See---when you reagear a bike, the rear wheel can become off-centered in the frame. Yup. So anyway---this evidently causes less than optimal handling & tire wear issues. Plus, your bike caliper can wear on the rim. See? So yeah--I've already gor a used truing stand I bought off CL, and an inexpensive spoke tension gage, and a spoke wrench. But guess what? I never got around to acquiring a dish gage! So yeah---I COULD haul my affected bike weelz to the Byke shop, and let The Cool People handle it for a fee. But, for that money, I could purchase the tool I lack, and self-improve by learning the procedure following you-tube tutorials. Plus--alleviate the "cognitive dissonance" I experience when I have to deal with those Cool Kids at the Bike Shop. I don't like to deal wih them, and be at their mercy. . It's also a tedious trip across town, in traffic. See? Okay--Package Tracking sez the used crankset from Oregon should arrive today. It's the piece I need to proceed forward. Yup. Then I can pull the BB and see what I need to do, there. But yeah---this old bike is being regeared slightly, with old mountain byke parts. It's what you need to road ride if: You live here; You are old and heavy. Yup. But yeah---the local 417 People & faddists with their "Gravel Bikes" that have a 30 tooth front and then similarly low gears on the rear. Even though there are no unpaved roads within 20 miles. Just rec trails. The President of the old local byke club resigned mid-term, because he's like me in that he's a believer in road-riding as the primary focus, especially after all the progress that's been made in public policy. Well, the faddists all want focus on the local trails and also hauling your byke to counties farther out to ride on gravel roads. Well, you can do that, but don't expect everyone else to embrace it as the norm! But yeah---the "Gravel People" are come-here's of the liberalistic persuasion, and as usaual, advocates of change-for-changesd'-sake.and faddists. You should see summa the high-dollar plastic bykes they have. Ha. Road biking ain't dead, and trail riding isn't safer---especially with more riders than ever hitting the trails in events. Just about the biggest risk factor in crashes(besides inattentiveness) is other cyclists! That's what my experience is. Yup. But yeah---I may have to attend summa thew club events more, to give 'em my 2 cents, until they change or kick me out. Ha. But, I can still road ride. See?

Faux, They don't just RUN, they REALLY RUN! Yup. Right now, I got one o' the chevy motors and trans and rear axle assy sitting in the house garage. I still have to finish COMPLETELY rebuilding the rear axle, but rthe motor & trans are done. Yup. No sense being in a hurry; don't want to get out there where traffic a is MURDER and cops are everywhere. Nope. Plus, irt annoys me when people want tto engage you in trying to "trade"(get screwed) on something stupid in exchange for my classic. It's like that there Mona Lisa---better off in a museum. Yup. But yeah--I guess I could trade for a red $8000 cook stove. Ha. Hope that helps you some.
