Hot! Hot! Hot!

How is everyone dealing with the heat? Almost 11 am here in the Chicago suburbs and it’s 88. I tend to keep my ac at 67 when I’m home, but I kicked it up to 70 to hopefully be a little easier on the ac unit since it’s going to be at least 95 the next few days. We have a severe heat warning through early Tuesday. I’m staying in this weekend except for church. I had to take the trash out to the dumpster about 9 am and it was already 80 with very soupy air.

Ceiling fan going in BR. I have one of the those Vornado fans on the floor, pointed just right to hit my body when I’m in bed (I pretty much live in my bed). I have a couple of rechargeable fans (they don’t oscillate and put out a good breeze) that I have blowing on me when I’m at my desk in the LR. I’m being lazy this weekend. I had to bring some work home, but I’ll deal with that tomorrow afternoon or later today.

Light food, too. Lunch today was tomato sandwiches.

We keep the thermostat at 76 and use a Vornado floor fan. In the bedroom we have a ceiling fan and use it every night. Cannot open the windows since the humidity is too high and it does not get much cooler at night.

I do not go out but hubby is on a Habitat panel build outside all day. He will be drenched when he gets home.[

Not currently living at home, so temp raised. When visiting, turning ceiling fans on, because with two of the conditions, I run colder and a warmer house feels better right now.

We don't have AC so it's rough. Fans, ceiling fans, open windows, closed shades. It just didn't seem worth the expense of adding an AC system for a few weeks of 90+ days. At 6000ft altitude and normally little humidity, it is usually cool enough at night. The basement stays a lot cooler though so we head there some nights - like tonight.

No AC here either. Ceiling fans and little movement. So far, so good, but I just heard we are in for high temps up to Wednesday.

Currently 87 and sunny here, expecting a high of 89 today and highs in the low 90's and sunny for the next week. AC in the house is set at 74 and it feels very comfortable, of course that's just for use when we come inside. My special needs grandson is here for the weekend and we've only just come in after spending nearly 2 hours in the backyard pool where the water temp is 86 and quite refreshing.

After lunch we'll go back to the pool and then we'll do it again after dinner which I think will be our daily routine going forward.

okay---i tell you what----it's 90 and humid and i got YARD WORK!! ta do and also weld the exhaust pipe on my 1-ton out in the driveway, plus go ta tthe wreckin' yard for some bits n pieces including the flywheel bolts. Yup. The catts are inside with the fan on and the huskees have shade. Yup. But yeah---i had some yummy ramen noodles for a late lunch.

I’m sick with a high temperature and the chills, so I go outside periodically to sit in the sun because it’s the only way I can get warm.

My local WeatherUnderground station is showing 102. It's a dry heat. The early mornings have been very nice.

51F here today and foggy. Woodstove going.

Currently 81 in coastal NC. Not dropping much overnight. Next week hotter--highs up to 96. We keep the AC at 73 or so, use ceiling fans...not too bad. Will get more humid later in summer; not our favorite time of year.

Yesterday was lovely here, and I got all my recently purchased plants in the ground (again, lol). We got our two a/c units in place, so we are ready for the extreme heat predicted for today and Tuesday.

Parts of our town had a power outage for several hours yesterday. I felt really bad for those affected because it was so hot, and it must have been pretty miserable to not even be able to run a fan. We are fortunate to seldom have outages, and when they happen, they are almost always very brief. We think it might have something to do with us being so close to the public safety building, like maybe our section of the grid is high priority or something.

I think— don’t want to speak too soon about this – that I’ve reached the age where I start to get chilled and so our upstairs which is not as cool as the downstairs did not seem crazy uncomfortable last night. In past years, I’ve turned on a fan, but I haven’t used it yet. our air-conditioning is vented upstairs, but it’s just less efficient.

we have a mini split in our sunroom that keeps up very nicely with the heat.

According to my car, we hit 100 around 3 pm. Fans still going, soaked the puppy while watering the gardens just a bit ago. Otherwise, it has been a slow, non-moving day. One down and I believe/hope, two to go.

okay---I been telling myself it's been hot, hot, hot. But guess what? I don't think Zurra is any hottern it is any other year; what the deal is, is that I'm getting soft and on account of getting old. <<<the propaganda against OLD people being vulnerable to everything has crept up on me. See? But yeah---if it'll drop down well into the 80's, that'd be greeeaaat. Yup. Just gotta cope.

Been near 100 degrees for way too long but a storm is supposed to pass through and drop temps tomorrow into the high 70's... supposedly. One day of cooler temps is better than none, I guess.

Tired of the heat AND the rain - I really don't like saunas. things are trying to mold on the patio, and there's some mildew trying to take hold in the house. ARG. At least today's rain brought cooler temps! Spent last week and a half in New England/Maine and other than two days of over 85 degrees, it was cooler than here in Ohio. AND not as much rain, lol. (Managed to spend two days on Laurel Lake, rr, so was thinking of you, lol!) We have only AC in two upstairs bedrooms where I do not sleep. I have a fan hooked up on exhaust in our back stairwell window, and that helps a lot. Downstairs we have two tower fans, and the kitchen has a ceiling fan. Ceilings are high - which is also a great help in the summer. Not so much in winter, lol.

I'm grateful we've been having a mild summer with only a few hot days, but we sure could use a good soaker. Our beautiful Olympic forest is on fire. It's so smoky here, it sorta makes you feel grungy all the time. Haven't seen Bae on here for a bit so wondering if he's involved in fighting fire across the water.

okay----it cooled down some last evening, and the outdoor catts went out this afternoon. They pretty much have stayed inside, the last coupla weeks. Yup. So yeah--78 degrees. Not bad.

Those big forest fire are scary, and sad.

Cold front in the Great Lakes area for a few days and it’s bringing Canadian wildfire smoke here. Air alert day today. I can actually smell the smoke.

We've had enough wildfires here on the island to keep us busy. We almost lost half the island a couple of weeks ago, but we kept it from spreading with superb interagency cooperation and assistance. Lots of little ones since then. One only about 1500 feet from my home. It is never too late to do the NFPA Firewise program for your house and neighborhood!!!

However, the smoke in the air sure makes for some nice sunsets from my deck, this was last night's:

We've had a haze here that I've come to know as a tequila sunrise. I've not picked up in the news whether it's the fires in Canada, our west slope, or the Grand Canyon fires, which I've seen is virtually unconfined at 120 square miles. We also have ozone alerts for poor air quality during the summer, something to do with a temperature inversion along the front range that happens frequently. I just checked the air quality rating and it's in the moderate rage, so nothing severe. It seems to change daily, but hasn't been terrible.

okay----it's HOT. But yeah---last week was HOT(starting Tuesdy), this week is HOT, and prolly the week after will be HOT. I'm planning ta go upta the intersection after dark, and sit-n-watch the cruisers, but heck---it might still be too HOT. The catts are just laying around, waiting to be fedd. Yup. So are the wild, rabid howling wooolves. The situation almost makeds me wish i'da voted for Camella and alla the other fanaticrats, so they'da done something about this global warming! Ha. Not really. Anyway---i'm doing my part by keeping my carbon footprint small. See? Hope that helps you kids. Thankk mee.

okay----8 days later, and it's HOTTER than it was before! Really, really HOT! The forecast is, that someday, it will cool down. Waaaay down, so it'll be colder'n it has been since the ice age! Yup.
