Very nice, IL, as long as you can assure us that Santa's picture doesn't hang on the wall year-round!
So cute!! I'm trying to figure out what I want to do for Christmas decor this year. (BTW, I have that exact sage Buffalo gingham print for my office curtains. I love it! I got it from Country Curtains when they were still around.)
I love buffalo checks. I use this in the kitchen as well, kitchen curtains that I made.
My house is already kinda in Christmas colors. My kitchen is green and red. Our sunroom is a different shade of green with red. The living room is green with pink. The TV room is green with coral.
Rosa for sure Santa will disappear in January.
I love the doors. Very clever!
IL: I am relieved to hear about Santa! Count me as another fan of that green and white plaid.
I don't think we've seen enough pictures of the Hermann house in its finished, or at least more finished, state.
I don’t know why I put this topic in Housing rather than in the Holidays forum.
But anyway, when I get this place decorated I’ll send out several pictures. Right now things are in a mess. I’ve already spent a leisurely 3+ hours working on the mantle and have another hour to go. I can spend some insane amount of time on this stuff. It’s kind of silly. But I enjoy it, It’s my entertainment.
Very nice, IL!! Can't wait to see more photos. I plan on decorating for Christmas this weekend. Got to wait until Thanksgiving is over. Here is my mantle decorated for Thanksgiving.
Sweet, Klunick!
I really like the color of your walls! Looks great with the seasonal decor.
Very nice, Klunick. I see that not all gnomes have been banished!
I think it's called Mocha or something like that. People describe it as coffee with a lot of milk mixed in. A light to medium brown I guess. Sometimes it photographs almost mustard colored which it's not. No yellow tones at all so no idea why it will show up like that in some photos.
No, not all. Got to keep some around. Those two are from Walmart and my husband has even named them Oscar and Grimley. He loves the Fall when those two make an appearance. But normally there would have been 3-4 more gnomes out had I not done the big declutter so it's a win.
Your fall mantle is pretty!
Edited to add: all the colors work so well.
I've seen a lot of cute gnomes made at Clay School. I think I'll try my hand at some in the near future.
Here are some sock gnomes I made 6 years ago. All have been given away or decluttered over the years.
Klunick, those are really cute!
Those sock gnomes are funny!
I remember one trip to Switzerland years ago and one village. It seemed like every third house had a gnome in their front yard.
My favorites were the 3 in the last two pictures. Just the heads without bodies. Those were also the later ones I did so I felt more comfortable making them. I really enjoyed doing those but I think I did too many in a short period of time and got burned out quickly.
Love all the gnomes! Thanks for the pics.
Here are photos from our holiday house tour decor. We had 400 people to our house Saturday afternoon. It was fun, very busy, and well worth all the decorating.

My favorite is the red and white tablesetting, just beautiful.
Beautiful pictures, Iris. 400 people coming through my house would definitely send me over the edge!
We are veterans of house tours so this kind of thing doesn’t phase us, but early on in the house tour I got caught by a “talker.” For that moment I doubted my resilience for interaction with the human race. But the rest of the day went fine and three of my garden club lady friends came from St. Louis so that was nice. And then our former bulldog veterinarian who I havent seen in 15 years came through the house tour with his wife and I was shocked and so pleased to see him.
