I pray he will change his mind, get out of politics, try to atone for his behavior, and enjoy golf and grandchildren.
Since it seems that indictment is imminent it's possible that the candidates who have no shot at winning the nomination and seem to only be in it to thwart trump (Christie, Hutchinson, Pence) will be able to slam him hard enough to solidify enough anti-trump sentiment within the party because of the indictments to steer the party away from the circular firing squad mentality that resulted in trump getting the nomination in 2016. The longer it takes before Jack Smith hands down an indictment for espionage the less likely the others will be able to knock him off the republican party leader pedestal.
If they succeed in taking him down it will be interesting to see who gets the nomination after DeSantis falls flat on his face once people outside of florida get to see what a radical he is.
Just checked google news for the first time today. Apparently the indictments were more imminent that I thought...
It’s going to be awkward in the Republican debates when they are asked if they would pardon trump. They can either say yes and lose independents or they can say no and lose trump’s base. Talk about a lose/lose situation…
I wonder what the GOP will campaign on. Seems like usually it's been the economy or some war, neither of which appear too significant these days. Even gas seems slightly acceptable and inflation is relatively tame. No doubt there will be the usual demonizing of the dems and Biden's age. I think Pence mentioned something about entitlement revision, which sort of breaks down to Medicare and social security. Abortion doesn't seem too popular of an issue and there doesn't seem to be much on the table about taking people's guns and ammo away. Maybe defunding the DOJ?
If DeSantis' reaction to the trump federal indictments is any indication it appears that they are going to be running on "defund the police"
Indictments…LOCK HIM UP! LOCK HIM UP!
